The Wavesense Presto strips are very cheap..
My new Wavesense Presto meter has about 5%-7% higher reading compared to my Trueresult and True2go and Clever Choice Voice.
Testing them side-by-side and many times.
As now meters and test strips are required to produce results within a 20 percent margin of error therefore 5% to 10% different from each others are acceptable!
I do not know Wavesense presto is more accurate than others but the strips are inexpensive.- I use this meter as a backup meter.
Update Aug-25th-2012:
This morning I tested my blood glucose level using three different meters.
Wavesense Presto meter gave reading of 121
Clever voice choice meter showed 118.
TrueResult meter had 108..

I have been using the Wavesense Presto Meter for years. I've tried other name brand meters and none come as close to my Doctors A1C test. This is the only reason I use this meter. Not because it is inexpensive or the strips are cheaper, but because of the consistency of it's blood glucose test results. I highly recommend this Meter.

I use this meter for testing my mom's blood sugar. Technically, it's the Target brand blood glucose monitor, but it's made by this company and is this exact meter.

Initially, I'd bought it for her since the other two her doctor had prescribed for her were so freaking expensive and she had no insurance at the time. The unit itself was really inexpensive, as were the test strips. The no code feature is great because it keeps it simple. I was reading through the directions on the other two and it was just so complicated compared to this. She just needs to monitor her blood sugar and doesn't need anything too fancy.

What I love is that it digitally keeps track of all your results so you don't have to worry about writing it down and keeping track of a little diary of sorts.

However, she now has insurance and who knows what type of monitor they'll give her. I hope it has similar features like this one. While we're glad insurance will now cover her diabetic supplies, we're a little sad that they won't cover her current set up (unless they'd like to grace us with the "name brand" version- wave sense). We're both very happy with the ease of use and the cost involved.

My only gripe is the lancet needles themselves. Trying to get them into the lancer just right in order for it not to stick out too much or too little is probably the most tedious part of the whole process.

I'm a nurse and have used dozens of glucometers in the course of my career. When we had our Acucheck glucometer changed to this one, it was a success. This meter requires very little blood and it reads fast too...like 3 seconds after. It doesnt need to be calibrated too. And the best part? It's cheap. I bought one for a family member.

What a scam- a big pharma company makes a glucometer and then charges over a dollar a test strip, because hey- we all have health insurance, and they'll pay for all but $20-$30/month of that, right? Like we don't end up paying that back in constantly rising premiums... I like these Wavesense glucometers- they are small, reasonably quick, and CHEAP. Not just the machines- the test strips are cheap. I buy them here on Amazon for something like 100 for $30. No coding, no hassles. The diabetic supply industry needs a swift kick to the head, and this is my contribution to that. Metaphorically, of course.

The Wavesense Presto glucometer is a great value. It produces highly accurate results due to the use of new digital technology, and the test strips cost less than most other brands. I don't have prescription coverage, so the cost of the strips is important to me

I have used several different meters and test strips and like these the best. Requires smaller blood sample and is one of the fastest!

I have found this meter to be imprecise and probably inaccurate. Readings from the same drop of blood varied from 107 to 127 mg/dL. Another meter's readings were 99 to 102 mg/dL on the same finger stick.
The "normal test solution" measured 134 to 153. With a 20% precision, the readings from the test solution should fall between 80 and 120 mg/dL as is shown in the illustration in their User's Manual. The company also states that the readings on the test solution can range from 106 to 161 mg/dL but this would be very inaccurate if the test solution is "normal" = 100 mg/dL.
My hospital laboratory blood sugars are between 100 and 110 mg/dL.
AgaMatrix offered no explanation or refund.
