Book Description

August 14, 2008
Ashwaganda for stamina and vitality... arjuna for heart health... dandelion for breast wellness... gokshura to reach a sexual peak... Traditional Ayurveda, using the principles of the three doshas, constitutional body typing and highly individualized therapies, is the oldest continously practiced healing system on Earth. Over those many centuries, generations of Ayurvedic scholars and physicians have reviewed, inspected, dissected and refined the system to perfect a highly effective form of health, balance and healing. Now, two of the world's leading Ayurvedic herbalists, both leaders of the holistic health renaissance, and who, together, bring a total of over 75 years of practice to this work, have crafted a manual for making Ayurveda understandable and eminently, practically useful. THE WAY OF AYURVEDIC HERBS is more than an herb manual. It is a life path to well-being.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent, August 22, 2009

This review is from: The Way of Ayurvedic Herbs: A Contemporary Introduction and Useful Manual for the World's Oldest Healing System (Paperback)
This is my first time reading anything about Ayurvedic Medicine and after going through the book, I had cross-referenced its contents with some of my friends who have been implementing these practices in their life, amazingly they all agree with the information provided in this book. For example the use of Garlic, onion, and Ginger is the primary ingredient of almost every Indian household for many many years along with other spices..handed down from Mother to Daughter but no one ever questioned why these spices were the primary base of all the foods.. with this book it breaks down and explains detailed benefits of each of these tri-primary base of Indian food. Pretty good.
I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to change their life and live a longer healthy life.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book on the Subject., June 21, 2009

This review is from: The Way of Ayurvedic Herbs: A Contemporary Introduction and Useful Manual for the World's Oldest Healing System (Paperback)
Good information on Ayurvedic Herbs is sometimes hard to come by. I own a few books on the subject, but this is the first that I have found that has extended information on the use of Ayurvedic herbs by an experienced Ayurvedic herbal practitioner, who also happens to be a professional member of the American Herbalist's Guild. Most books on the subject give lots of information on Ayurvedic principles and just cursory information on how the herbs are used or just give cursory herbal or scientific information This book gives both extended information on Ayurvedic Herbs and how they are used within the content of Ayurvedic healing principles. It is a wonderful addition to any herbalists information on Ayurveda and Ayurvedic herbs. Thanks Karta Purkh Singh Khalsa and Michael Tierra for putting out this book!

3.0 out of 5 stars Too bad about the editing, October 10, 2010
This review is from: The Way of Ayurvedic Herbs: A Contemporary Introduction and Useful Manual for the World's Oldest Healing System (Paperback)
I have never seen such a horribly edited book. It appears, in fact, not to have bee edited at all.
I wouldn't put negative comments about this book at the beginning of my review if the mistakes and repeats and typos were not so immediately, glaringly obvious. I found myself constantly editing as I read, which was both distracting and annoying.
It's especially unfortunate that The Way of Ayurvedic Herbs is so carelessly written and edited because it contains a lot of valuable information. In spite of its slipshod or non-existent editing, I've kept the book and refer to it from time to time, which says a lot for its content.
