Frankly, at first I had doubts. But, I needed a bookshelf for a low ceiling area for a media room and I decided to go for it. I am pleasantly surprised and satisfied. I am considering buying six more of the larger ones for another project I have.
In no particular order, here are my observations: Concept - very unique use recycled materials. I'm no greenie, but still like the concept Fit - Very good fit with careful positioning during assembly Weight - surprisingly light Strength - very strong once assembled for intended use Color - just what I expected and wanted Versatility - great. See posted picture for an interesting variation Price Performance - Excellent value for price paid Customer Service - Excellent. Asked Jimmy a question about back board [it IS reversible] and had reply in hours Assembly - fun and fast. 15 minutes accurate as posted. OK, if you are a "detail" person maybe 30 minutes Product Packaging - when I first saw outer box, oh, oh, but, each cube is carefully packed in its own box, no problem Delivery - usual, great Amazon Prime performance Important assembly suggestion - put one cube together WITHOUT peeling the 3M tape. Make sure the side panels all have tape showing on the back of the cube to attach the back board. Backboard is vital piece that gives stability and strength to the cube. Note that though there are small dowels used in assembly. There is small amount of movement allowed for precise edge alignment. So, when doing final assembly be careful to line up edges as close as possible for best fit. You will understand this once you put one together without the tape and move the boards to align. This important alignment step will contribute to the final look of the cubes. Obviously, it is very difficult/impossible to make corrections once the mighty 3M tape sticks to other surface.

These cubes were exactly what we were looking for to use as book and toy storage for my toddler. We've stacked them several different ways before settling on a configuration that worked well. My little one likes to climb on them, or take a book from one and sit on top to read it. They are sturdy and were simple to put together. We use those little bin-type drawer inserts from Target with the animal faces for non-book storage. We just love them.

Good for organization, however material is soft (much weaker than wood)and colorful paper is a a little prone to peeling off.

These cubes are amazing! Well-made, super easy to assemble, and a stylish addition to our home. I would highly recommend these to someone looking for flexible and durable modular storage. They look elegant and rich, no one would guess it was a recycled material. This product exceeded my expectations. After buying the first set, I immediately bought another. Contrary to other reviewers, my cubes do not appear "soft" and we live in a humid environment. Product arrived in excellent condition and was a breeze to build. I will buy these again as our storage needs change. Thanks, Way Basics!

These cubes are made out of recycled paper. They feel like they were made out of paper mache. They are held together with 1/8 inch rolls of recycled paper and glue. Each of the cubes is boxed separately, and assembles separately from the other cubes. When they say module, they mean you get 6 individual cubes. You should also understand the cubes are rectangular, and you must use them so the long side is standing up vertically, and not horizontally or the cubes cannot support any weight. They turn out looking very cheap and uneven. On the up side, they are very easy to assemble.

They aren't bad for what they are. Eco friendly shelving that you can arrange the way you want. The material is super soft, it almost feels like you can squeeze it between your fingers to break it. Surprisingly it is sturdy enough for most things. A fair price would be $70+shipping in my opinion, TOPS.

These cubes take about 15 minutes to assemble (all 6 of them, not just one). They are sturdy, look good, and because they are modular, can fit pretty much anywhere in any design.

5 enthusiastic stars! I love that these are modular - I made two pyramids of 3 cubes each - and the colors look stylish and cute together. Wonderful size for books or toys. And you can easily get a fabric basket that fits perfectly in a cube if you like. (Closetmaid brand, for example.) They are incredibly easy to put together; took a couple minutes each.
No VOCs or formaldehyde in the glue, and made from recycled paper. No "greenwashing" here, that I can detect. They are much lighter weight than particleboard, which contains lots of toxic glue that can off-gas. I will definitely buy more. The manufacturer commented on this review(What's this?) Posted on

If you've read the description, you know what you are getting. Looks and performs just as advertised. The cubes all come separate, so you can arrange them any way you want. They seem to be holding up well, though I haven't tried putting anything tremendously heavy on it. Really helped clear up some clutter on my floor, and looks nice. Thumbs up.

Very cheap, made out of paper, don't make any mistakes while building,

I didn't expect the finish to peel off so terribly if you make any error at all in the alignment. But it's basically a very thin paper that the cubes are lined with and if you accidentally stick one on the wrong way, you cannot unstick it or it will peel off and damage the entire box. Also, I received some cubes with obviously "Markered in" edges where the paper had peeled or it was not finished. It is easy to assemble but they don't align very well once you start to stack them, the edges don't align at all like the image advertising this product. I would not buy again, I don't think it was worth the price. I think I could certainly get a more sturdy low end product for less. |
