I needed a cheap inexpensive shelf to put under a window, next to my desk. Ordered the product, and when it came in, I was immediately displeased. I understand its supposed to be cheap and light; but I did not expect how cheap and light it really was. I almost sent it back there. (I should have). Instead, I decided to have some faith in engineering and try it out. The tape does stick well, but the binding strength is far greater than the internal strength of the paper box. So while it sticks impressively well, it was very easy to tear off a section of finish from the adhesive tape. The paper box can't hold the strength of the tape. Another thing is the very very poor dowels given for assembly. They are also very lightweight paper product dowels, you can deform between two fingers.
Assembly is quite easy, however the instructions do not point out that there is already tape on one side of each square... I nearly did it myself before I caught it and I can see many people assembling the box before realizing that there are tape stripes that must end up one specific direction. If you see it you can catch it. But the instructions make no mention of it. Finally the thing is assembled. I put four casters on it, so it can move and float. It looks pretty good and I am happy. Put on about 1/3 of the load of books that it will eventually have. Three days later, I come into the room and the whole thing is in pieces on the floor. Still with the limited 1/3 of books I was planning to put on it. It had just fallen apart in the night. Now what? Do yourself a favor and buy a particle board version of the same thing with real screws. May cost few $$ more, but for the limitations, 50-60$ is way too expensive.

My first time writing a review, positive or negative, for anything. The idea behind this company seems great. I'm all for eco-friendly. Package arrived promptly, reasonably priced, etc... You can't assemble a shelving unit with nothing but adhesive strips, unless you're planning on holding pillows. I was directed to this product after typing in "record shelving" in the search bar. Just wanted to stop any other vinyl enthusiast from making the same mistake. I came home today to find about 150 records in various states of ruin on the floor next to the remains of the crumbled "way basic" shelving unit. To sum up, if it seems to good to be true (easy assembly! cheap! eco-friendly!), it probably is. I've seen children construct sturdier structures with scotch tape and cardboard, which is essentially what this is. Would have given a half star if available.

I will be going away to college soon and I was looking for some simple but attractive shelving options. These are it! Assembly was VERY easy and it took me less than fifteen minutes to put it together. They seem sturdy as they can hold up to my massive manga and book collections. I plan on ordering more of these. One of the nicest features is that you can choose and build these shelves to fit in the space that you need to fill. They are easy to customize by putting them together to suit your taste. The different color choices are great too! I highly recommend these shelves. They look great, they are easy and fast to put together, they are reasonably priced, they are sturdy, and they help the environment. What more could a person ask for?

Good for some things,

I loved my shelves. I bought 5 sets of 3 to house my record collection in October.
Last night I heard a crash, it was the shelf falling apart. These are a poor record storage solution because the records lean on the side wall, which is not lad bearing. I would only use these for storing things that don't lean. For now I am storing a magazine collection and some cubes.

I ordered some direct from the manufacturer recently when they were offering free shipping -- with free shipping, these are great!! Very sturdy and very easy to assemble. I am ordering more from amazon and hoping their selection continues to improve.
Their fake wood shelves look nicer than my ikea versions of the same, and the customizable options are amazing.

Wonderfully easy to assemble shelf unit, these 3-high 'cubes' look great in the corner of my office. My sister and I assembled this unit in about 15-20 minutes and were pleased that it was light-weight and easy to move into place. This is a sturdy, decorative unit and the added bonus is that you can feel good buying a product made of recycled materials that demonstrate your own commitment to sustainable goods.

My neighbor & I made the 3 cube tower. You can actually make sense of the instructions. Over the years I've gotten items where the instructions ranged from difficult to utterly worthless. The instructions, both diagrams and words, made sense. It took very little effort to put this 3 cube tower together. They suggest that you put it aside for 24 hours with some books piled on top so that the glue settles. So it is sitting with 5 massive cook books on top. The cube it self can hold most of your large books in both height and depth. It won't hold a large Atlas or other books of that size. I'm happy.
(Yes I copied most of this from my review of the single cube.)

Like the description says, it's very easy to assemble...no screws or tools necessary. That is probably the problem for me - it's put together with double sided tape and cardboard tabs. I work in publishing and I had stacks of magazines in each cube. When I tried to move the unit from one corner to another, the cubes came apart and with that, the fake wood paper pulled and the whole thing just totally fell apart and became a mess! Now I don't have a storage unit for my magazines anymore and I wasted money. If you buy this item, I would advise buying super glue to be confident that the unit will stick together and last longer than mine...or just don't move it with stuff inside! actually, don't buy it - its not worth it!
