A great conclusion, if needing some patience,

As with many of his books, "The Way Beneath" is a fun and quick read, meant to be enjoyed more than explored. Wells ends this series via a method I have not seen him use much before: parallel story lines. This method has both pros and cons. The pace is set nicely as you watch the hero, Kedryn and his heroine, Wynett, go through different and difficult ordeals. The paralleling is done nicely and the plot is generally well crafted. The con is that if you don't really care about one side of the story, you're in for a bunch of tedious reading. Be sure to bring your dictionary along for the ride too, because Wells indulges in his penchant for using unnecessarily big words, as well as his occasional tendency to clumsily forecast future events. That being said, the story is entertaining, psychologically explorative - if not breaking down any barriers - and full of several likable characters. Finally, the conclusion to the series feels complete, closing on a very satisfying note.
