Book Description

Seattle mathematician Thomas Rasmussen had everything to live for. He had a beautiful, loving wife and two great kids. He was well known and respected in his field. His startup company Applied Cryptographic Solutions recently finished building a revolutionary decryption device called The Starfire Protocol that was already attracting offers in the millions.

With all that going for him, why would Thomas drive to Discovery Park at six-thirty on a dark, rainy morning, put a .357 Magnum to his head and pull the trigger? The police say the evidence is conclusive--it was definitely a suicide. But that made no sense to his wife, Katherine. So she did what people in Seattle do when they need help on matters such as these. She turned to Danny Logan and the Logan Private Investigation Agency.

Logan, along with his associates Antoinette "Toni" Blair, Kenny Hale and Joaquin "Doc" Kiahtel roll into action, determined to find out what really happened. Did Thomas die by his own hand? Or was he murdered? Either way: why? The answer to these questions would lead the team through a trail full of lies, conflicting evidence, and extreme danger. But one thing was certain: alone--in a car--in a dark parking lot--in the rain--that's surely No Way to Die.

NOW RELEASED! Danny Logan Mystery #5 - "BLUE MOLLY" is out!

About the Author

M.D. Grayson is the author of the Danny Logan mystery series including Angel Dance, No Way to Die, Isabel's Run, Mona Lisa Eyes, and Blue Molly. He lives on an island near Seattle with his wife Michelle and their three German shepherds.

Before becoming a full-time writer, Mr. Grayson worked in the construction industry, as an accountant for six l-o-n-g weeks (square peg--round hole), and as a piano player on the Las Vegas strip. When he's not writing, he loves zooming about on two wheels-- bicycles and motorcycles alike. In addition, he's a pilot, a boater, and an accomplished musician who's always ready for a jam session!

I just finished reading M.D. Grayson's second thriller starring Danny Logan's PI firm which was staffed with the same terrific team as in his outstanding debut novel, Angel Dance. He is an excellent story teller, and his characters are people you'd like to know and work with (except the bad guys, of course who are really bad). Like his first thriller, this is set in Seattle, and his descriptions almost make me want to visit. Do yourself a favor and read both this fine story and its predecessor. You'll find they are both page turners you won't want to put down.

4.0 out of 5 stars Another Danny Logan hit! November 24, 2012
Format:Paperback
This is the 2nd book in the Danny Logan Mystery series and I have enjoyed them both. I actually enjoyed this one more than the first one. I felt like I knew the characters better and overall I liked the story line in this book better.

The story is pretty much your basic murder mystery with a twist. The twist being that while the police have ruled the murder a suicide the widow insists that he had everything to live for. Once she tells her story to Logan Investigations they are inclined to agree with her even though the evidence shows otherwise. They work as a team to try to discover the truth behind his death.

I said that Toni was my favorite character in the last book and she definitely still is. The tension between her and Danny is even more intense in this book. They have this unspoken pact that since they work together they will never be more than friends, but that is tested greatly in this book. It's clear that there is more there, on both side and it's something they won't be able to deny much longer.

This is another book that is just really well written and edited. The cover is a bit lackluster, but the story itself is a really good one. The murdered man in this one was a very bright mathematician who developed a device or code that can decrypt any secure passcodes. There is a lot of mathematical jargon in this book that undoubtedly took a lot of research on Mr. Grayson's part. It's a little overwhelming at times, but not so much that it takes you out of the story.

Again, I love that this series is set in Seattle. I love how descriptive the settings are. This is a great detective novel full of great plot twist and turns. If you are a fan of this genre then you are sure to enjoy these Danny Logan Mysteries!

2.0 out of 5 stars No Way to Die May 28, 2014

Fairly good story line. Terrible editing job. Author needs new people to review his manuscripts for inconsistencies and omissions in the storyline. EX. Danny never mentions that Holly lied about LillyPad. Other situational things that didn't make sense. Doubt I'll read another book by this author.

1.0 out of 5 stars too much "f" word for me March 2, 2014

The book started out ok- nothing gripping but ok. I'm sure I would have completed the book stopped at 20%. Everyone is entitled to read/like what they want and I choose not to read books full of the "f" word.

4.0 out of 5 stars No Way to Die, Long Live this Book! February 14, 2014
By Jan
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
As for this book, I would have liked to give it a five-star rating. However, it does not have the humor that I so enjoy interspersed throughout most of the others of this series. The real reason for taking away a star was the amount of typos I found. Following a punctuation mark, there was no spacing in so much of this book. It thoroughly displeased me to find this when all of these other books are so carefully edited and proofed! The book flows easily, has the usual twists and turns that Grayson uses so successfully, and the characters are superbly thought out and very well brought to life. The setting is well done. It makes anyone familiar with Seattle able to follow the action and to visualize the routes through which this book takes the reader. Even if you are not a Seattleite, you can still follow this easily. All in all, this is a very good book. Just be prepared for the typos throughout the entire book. Such a shame! Out of all of the books in this series, what makes me appreciate this the most is the way that Grayson takes the reader through the story line and all of a sudden the reader is spun into a 180 degree turn from what we have believed to be happening. Never underestimate Grayson's ability to flip you around in unexpected ways! Also, the characters interact and stay totally in character throughout the entire book, as well as the series. Also, I am most pleased that Grayson makes sure that all of his books are entire books from beginning to end. If you have the chance, it is best to read them from #1 to #5. It is not necessary, though, as each is a stand-alone book. This is so appreciated! If you are trying to decide if you should read this book or not, my advice truly is, "read it!" Unless you like a book that is well proof read and without typographical errors. Then, instead of this one, go on to number three. You won't be disappointed!

The partnership of Logan and Toni is fun. The entire team are able to get their quips in with each other. I've read all them and enjoy them all. Please write more.

3.0 out of 5 stars There is way too much detail in this story. April 11, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
The main plot is pretty good but there is too much detail for my liking. It's easy reading and the story moves along fine but there are pages I skipped without missing anything. The end seems to arrive abruptly. I don't think I'll be reading any more Danny Logan mysteries.
