Tom Walker's writing skill and Larry Aumiller's wonderful bear photographs make The Way of the Grizzly a book that should be read by any prospective tourist with an urge to see the Alaskan brown bears up close in their natural habitat. Walker uses many authoritative sources to support his cogent observations about the bears of McNeil River. The book is a primer on the brown bears but is written in a style that makes it seem like Walker is talking to you in your living room. I was able to read the book and study the photographs over a two-evening, after-work period of time that seemed to fly by. The book has found a permanent home in my bookcase.
