Really good: Sci-fi Yaoi / "Matrix" type of the story, March 22, 2009
This review is from: The Way To Heaven (Yaoi) (Yaoi Manga) (Paperback)
In my opinion, this is definitely the best June's release this year so far, as I really like both yaoi and sci-fi, and this story is both. It's very good, but in a weird way. It reminded me a bit of the "Matrix" movie, though this is a yaoi manga, of course. A former con-artist / yakuza and a former gay boxer die in an accident together, but get rescued by an alien "woman"(?), who has an evil sense of humor. She puts them back in their past, in an unreal world where they keep on living through the same day, as if in a loop. On the top of that, she demands them bring her human life "energy" in the form of blood and semen, every day. In exchange, she promises to give them more time / seconds of real life before they got in that lethal accident. The boxer has to s**k guys off (for the semen), while the yakuza is playing a "vampire" and collecting blood from the women he seduces.
If you expect explicit yaoi (M/M) sex scenes, you may be disappointed, as sex scenes, while being relatively numerous, are really not that explicit and "censored" in a number of places. (The story does deal with such mature themes as attempted rape, violence, anonymous sex and emotional dependence, however.) Nonetheless, even though I typically prefer more explicit yaoi, I was really happy with this manga as it delivers in terms of the plot, occasional humor, and original, rough-looking "edgy" art (which really suits its action-packed and violent plot).
Overall, it's quite an original story, and though it's definitely not as "groundbreaking" as the "Finder" series, I still highly recommend it to all who like unconventional action and/or sci-fi yaoi.

Entertaining and original Sci-fi/fantasy Yaoi. Very good indeed!, March 29, 2009
This review is from: The Way To Heaven (Yaoi) (Yaoi Manga) (Paperback)
This one has a highly original plot, most entertaining and I like the 2 guys here. Moriya dies trying to rescue a dog while Watase dies tying to rescue him. But an alien has other ideas refusing to leave them dead. Transforming Moriya into a werewolf and Watase into a vampire, the guys have to do her bidding collecting "bodily" fuids for her research, while suspended in limbo and stuck in a crazy time warp. Moriya is gay while Watase is straight but there is no doubt the growing feelings between them. Things get complicated when they found themselves reliving one particular day over and over again when Watase's dead Yakuza partner in crime, Akutsu, was still alive. Bonded to Akutsu in real life as much as in death Watase fights time to save Akutsu much to Moriya's chagrin. But at what consequences ? Will Watase and Moriya ever find closures ?
This mangaka's artwork like the previous reviewer noted definitely suits this sort of action story itself. Glad to have this soft core Yaoi in my collection but I wish this is not just a one shot story.

I like it, April 11, 2009
This review is from: The Way To Heaven (Yaoi) (Yaoi Manga) (Paperback)
The first thing that attracted me to this one was the cover, and 5 stars from the other reviewers. The plot line is unique and I really like it, so refreshing .The illustrations are great and beautiful, the guys are guys.I love looking at their facial expressions. The story is in the point of view of Moriya san and the charcaters develops nicely with in its limitation of the manga. This story would be interesting too if a novel version is written .The book is suprisingly big with big letters.
Oh yeah, for those hard core graphic fans, this one will frustrate you.The private parts are invisible and the main sex scenes and the rest is for your imagination to see.It is basically a very nice tease.
That part doesnt bother me.So For me ,This one is a keeper.
