Kevin Braheny's masterpiece, "The Way Home," deserves 10 stars if you like new age music. If not, it still deserves the 5 stars given. I've had this album since it was released back in the 80s and I will never get tired of it. The music is spacious, peaceful, and gorgeous. It is ideal for meditation but I also put it on for background music, letting it float in the air, adding a sense of comfort to the atmosphere.

I have listened to the CD since it's release and find no equal in the space music genre. The music awakens emotions in me that I was previously unaware of and the experience of both pieces is always moving and deeply satisfying. I have recommended it to may friends, one of which is a healer & therapist who has used it to great effect with a number of patients. I highly recommend using a good quality set of headphones for the best experience. I am simply in awe of this creation.

"The Way Home" is one of the first space music releases I ever purchased. I bought it (on cassette) as an "experiment," i.e. I had never heard it or anything else by Kevin Braheny. When I played it the first time, I knew that I had found something that transcended description by ordinary standards. Here was music that went deep to my core and touched something buried in my soul. the sheer beauty of Kevin's playing (especially his trademark EWI-electronic woodwind) nearly brought tears to my eyes. Listening to it now, about eight years after I first heard it, is still a revelation. This is true romantic space music. If you are unmoved by this recording, then you are a cynic of immense proportions. The flowing synth washes, the EWI gliding effortlessly along, the plucked-string synths-all combine in the two songs on this release("The Way Home" and "Perelandra") to produce a musical experience sublime and exquisite. warmer than the warmest Serrie, more melodic than Roach at his most accessible, more deeply textured than all but the best space music releases of this decade, "The Way Home" truly earns the designation "classic." The title trackis the warmer and gentler of the two peices, although those comments are deceiving. This release is one of my favorite "late night" recordings, idealfor drifting off to sleep or relaxing very late in the evening. The music of the title cut gently ebbs and flows, with slow patient synth washes counterpointed by Kevin's achingly beautiful EWI playing. "Perelandra" is the "spacier" of the two songs, much more electronic in nature than "The Way Home." Still, the warm, friendly, approachable nature of the recording is maintained. Less "organic," than the previous piece, "Perelandra" has a hint of the celestial to it, in all the best meanings of the word. If you enjoy space music that envelops you in warmth and invites peace and calm, as opposed to the darker elements of deep space, you should get this CD. This is a timeless masterpiece, much more than just music. The companion to this is indisputably Steve Roach's Structures from Silence, the two of which were featured on a Hearts of Space radio program years ago and have become part of my deepest listening pleasure ever since. If you don't have this yet, don't think twice at all. It's worth can't be measured with money.

I purchased this release back in the 80s on cassette tape under the title "Perelandra." I searched for it on CD but had no luck until I found the Hearts of Space web site and discovered a selection of Kevin Braheny CDs listing this title. Although my "Perelandra" cassette runs perfectly, I want a backup because, someday, this CD will not be available and I will be heartbroken that I didn't buy it back in 2007!

This is the best "cosmos ethereal" music I have found. Just like four other releases -- Soul of the Machine (Windham Hill electronic), The Waiting by Peter Buffett, and Caverna Magica and White Winds by Andreas Vollenweider -- I have never grown tired of Kevin Braheny's masterpiece, even after listening to it for two decades. This is a great piece of music to fall asleep with, if all else fails!

Wish they could have used this music for The PBS series "Cosmos"; while Heaven And Hell (Part 1/Symphony No.11/Alpha) by Vangelis/Houston Symphony Orchestra/Leopold Stokowski was "classical cosmos" music that was used for some of the series, The Way Home would have been superb.

This is an incredible CD folks! I bought it on a whim back in the late 1980s on cassette and just found it on CD, thank goodness. This music is timeless and some of the most gorgeous I have ever, ever heard.

Kevin Braheny's THE WAY HOME is a now classic piece of music that many love in certain circles. The first copy I bought was in cassette form at the legendary Bodhi Tree Booksore in West Hollywood CA. in the late 1980's. It was then called PERELANDRA, and for reasons unknown to me was changed to THE WAY HOME for CD release. I distinctively remember the first time those sounds caressed and enchanted my ears so long ago, and can honestly say I love this journey of music just as much today some 20+ years later. It's quite atmospheric at times and a little bit cosmic and spacey in the best sense. I really find it rather timeless as it always creates a place of blissful joy, peace, and well being. Great for sleep and meditation; yet is interesting enough with its subtle energy to enhance and further many waking activities. Treat yourself as the music and experience this CD creates is simply wonderful!!!!!
