5.0 out of 5 stars this does NOT sound like the Gaither Vocal Band
For some time now, Russ has been part of Bill Gaither's gospel quartet, singing for blue-heads who can appreciatively close their eyes and nod dreamily to tranquil renditions of old-timey standards. But on "The Way Home", the man is unrestrained--and the result is one of the most powerful vocal performances on record, bar none. An outstanding collection of rock/gospel...

1.0 out of 5 stars Cannot recopy this product.
I love the music on this cd but it has the protection in the software that it cannot be recopied so I can mix artists. I do not illegally copy or put music on the web, but I like reburnable music in my computor so I can remix songs and artists when I burn cds.

An outstanding collection of rock/gospel songs, crowned by the gorgeous, accordion-and-reverb-guitar ballad, "I Cry."

5.0 out of 5 stars An enduring classic, November 12, 2007

The best recording by the best male gospel voice--anointed and heartfelt, if you don't mind some aggressive guitar here and there. IMHO, this is one of the top five rock / pop Christian recordings ever released, and it should be better known than it is.

P.S. A long time ago, Russ did a duet called "The God of Who I Am." It was a great song, but doesn't appear on any of his recordings, as far as I know. Any chance of that being released on some sort of collection?

If i could give him ten stars for this one i would. It's been in my collection for fifteen years and still gets played now and then. Somehow these songs remain fresh and timeless; one senses the artist's sincerity in this whole project, in every word he sings. How much of the music we listen to these days will still be relevant in five, ten, fifteen years? Say no more.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not His Best Album!, February 14, 2011

I have to say I really love the albums "Medals" and "Russ Taff". There's some great songs in this album too but the feeling is not the same as in those two albums. Great message anyhow. My favorite songs are "Farther On", "Winds of Change", and "Table in the Wilderness".

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best Christian cds of all time, January 6, 2010

I bought the cassette of this album in 1989 and instantly fell in love with it. I was quite familiar with Russ through the Imperials and a couple of his solo albums.

But this one shines above all the others. There's not a weak song on here. Farther On is one of the most beautiful songs he's ever recorded. I Cry is just awesome as well. Both of these songs were huge radio hits for Russ.

He Came Through and Go On are fun, energetic songs with a strong message for believers. I Need You, Guiding Light, Take My Hand, and Table in the Wilderness are songs that are amazing to listen to.

If you've ever heard Russ Taff sing - and loved what you heard - you will definitely want to add this cd to your collection.
