A beautiful book,
By Aquinas "summa" (celestial heights, UK) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Way of the Lamb: The Spirit of Childhood and the End of the Age (Paperback)
Saward's aim in this book is to show us how the celebration of innocence of childhood is right at the heart of the christian mystery; we are called to be child like (not childish!) - to live under the mantle and protection of our sweet mother, Mary, and in the Light of our Father, who loves us with an everlasting love. He shows how it has always been the way of the world to kill the innocent babes and corrupt children - witness our own western culture, a culture of death. Calling on the writings of St Therese, Chesterton, Von Balthasar, Peguy and Bernanos, Saward beautifully paints the christian life; we too are called to be innocent lambs, ready to be lead to slaughter, if it comes to it.
Saward is a joy to read - he unashamedly loves the Catholic Church, warts and all - because she is the spotless bride of Christ! Thank you Fr Saward for such a lovely book! |
