Next to a Bible one of the best things you can buy at Amazon,
By Dave (Lexington, Kentucky) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Way Of The Master: How to Share Your Faith Simply, Effectively, Biblically-- The Way Jesus Did (Paperback)
Witnessing is something lots of people talk about, but nobody does, right? I mean, we've got great warriors of the faith like Billy Graham and D. James Kennedy out there with awesome evangelism programs, right? We all lead busy lives, and besides, witnessing is just not our "gift," right? And besides that...it's uncomfortable! Right? At best, we can hand out a Four Spiritual Laws tract, right? Right?
Okay, maybe that's not you. Perhaps you've done your share of witnessing. Led a friend or two to God's throne, even. But the vast majority of Christians simply don't worry too much about witnessing. Which is wrong. What else are we here for, if not to win souls away from the devil? I hate to make this sound like a commercial, but "introducing the solution." Ray Comfort has really done his homework well, and has discerned that the "feel-good" gospel -- emphasizing only love and grace and forgiveness -- is NOT the way to go. He backs this up with shockingly dismal statistics gathered from follow-up visits to sites where such things as Billy Graham crusades are held. 90 - 90% of people visited were not in the faith. The "love and grace" gospel confuses people. Accepting Christ for love, forgiveness and a happy life ignores the sinner's sin, which results in backsliders, counterfeits, and false converts. The sincere suddenly find that a Christian's life is not much better, and leaves the faith, more bitter against it than before. Comfort lists a humorous yet very real church example: "God loves you and has a wonderful plan for your life. He loves you and wants to give you TRUE happiness and to fill the God-shaped vacuum in your heart ... come forward to receive Christ and experience a wonderful new life. While they are coming, let's pray for the Smiths who lost their two children in a car accident this week. Brother Jones has been diagnosed with cancer. His wife had another miscarriage, and both their other children are chronic asthmatics. Sister Bryant fell and broke her hip ... Elder Chambers lost his job...Sister Lancing died of kidney failure...how many more have other diseases or troubles we can pray for? That many? Let's stay in our seats; we'll have a corporate prayer." The Church is facing a serious problem of a watered-down gospel, Comfort shows us in the first several chapters of the book. He then proceeds to show a much more Biblical method of witnessing, using the powerful conviction of God's Law. If you've seen the TV program, a lot of the material is repeated. If you haven't seen the program, I recommend seeing it very soon, because it's much better to observe than read. Comfort shows the ease of talking to people, and asking them simple questions such as "are you a good person?" and then asking the questions "have you ever lied? stolen something? taken God's name in vain? looked in lust?" (Wait for their answers, almost all of which will `yes') "Then by your own admission, you're a lying, thieving blasphemous adulterer at heart, and you have to face God on Judgment Day. If God judges you by what you just admitted, will you be innocent or guilty? Will you go to heaven or hell?" I can't lay out the entire witnessing method for you, although I'd sure like to. I'm a mere college student, yet I've found the courage to witness to probably a dozen or more people since discovering how to witness in the Way of the true Master, Jesus himself. (That's a 1200% increase over the last decade, folks) I really can't say enough about how crucial this is. We as Christians HAVE to be equipped not just to talk to people who ask questions, but to actually take initiative and take God's convicting power of the gospel to them. Please buy this book. Please, please, please. It's easy to read, and trust me, it will revolutionize the way you approach witnessing for Christ. I haven't had anyone blow me off, give me the finger, or try to hit me. The people I've talked with have, for the most part, been extremely receptive and ponderous of the message. The book has changed how I approach evangelism (the fact that I approach it at all, with the Lord's help) and I daresay it will definitely change yours. Please don't take these claims lightly, or think I've been asked to write this. I only want my Christian brothers and sisters to be fully-armed to take their stand against the Evil One. And best of all, you'll be following in great footsteps...the true Way of the Master.

Have you ever noticed two simultaneous phenomenona - that evangelistic crusades produce many "converts" who cannot be found in church even a few months later, and that surveys show that many Americans consider themselves Christian and yet lead lives that do not reflect obedience to God? In this fascinating book, actor and lay Christian Kirk Cameron and Pastor Ray Comfort, examine the problem and give their diagnosis of what is going on. The evangelical church in America, has embraced a hermeneutic that tells the unconverted that "God has a plan for you," and "God wants you happy."
And, what has been the effect of this? "Converts" who have no concept of sin, who do not have the grounding that can take them through the hard parts of life that are certain to come. So, what is the solution? A total rethink of the way that Good News is preached, including the centrality of God's Law. This book starts out as a Why We Should Evangelize, becomes a What We Are Doing Wrong, and ends up as a How We Should Evangelize. Overall, I found this to be a great book, one of the most exciting Christian books that I have read in a while! If you are a Christian who truly loves God, and want to know how to share your faith, then this is the book for you. I highly recommend this book to every Christian.

Not For The Weak At Heart,
By Ender Guerra (Hialeah, FL USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Way Of The Master: How to Share Your Faith Simply, Effectively, Biblically-- The Way Jesus Did (Paperback)
"The Way of the Master" shows us that it isn't the "feel-good" gospel that creates new believers, but the power of the Law of God--when used properly--to bring unsaved sinners to the Savior.I used to tell people that "God loves them and has a wonderful plan" for their lives. This book basically knocked me off my feet! Anyone who still uses the modern style of evangelism will only get false conversions--if they're lucky, one of every 200 or so will continue in the faith. This book also challenges people in their daily walk to examine themselves to see if they are in the faith. Not for the faint at heart! I plead for the body of Christ to read this book! It will change them forever! Next to the Bible, THIS is my favorite book!

"The Way of the Master" is an updated version of Ray Comfort's book "Revival's Golden Key." It parallels in many spots the television series by Kirk and Ray, also called "The Way of the Master.""The Way of the Master" includes several more up-to-date statistics, analogies, and anecdotes than the original, as well as more in-depth material on how to practically share the gospel, a short but good critique of the seeker-sensitive movement, and in general is much better than the original. RGK had barely any commentary by Kirk, and though again WoTM is primarily by Ray, Kirk offers much more advice in a practical and powerful manner. With Puropose Driven Life and Prayer of Jabez, two quasi-Christian books that are in fact quite dangerous to the Church (despite the sincere hearts of the authors) being two of the most popular "Christian" books of our time, we need to get back to the basics, back to the Bible, and back to authentic first-century Christianity. The early Christians were all about two things: Loving God, and being the best and most effective witnesses for Christ they could. PDL and POJ aren't cutting it, but WoTM can and will, and it's got the ability to do that, if it can get out en masse to the public. Read their book, visit their Web site (http://www.wayoftheMaster.com/), and watch their show, so that you can faithfully and effectively fulfill Ephesians 6:15 and Mark 16:15. Get it into your pastors hands, your friends hands, and your hands. If you have a concern for the lost, want to overcome your fear, or are simply curious about Mike Seaver the Bible-thumper, then READ THIS BOOK!

The Gospel makes no sense without a realization of sin!,
By Locarno "Christian, evangelist, programmer, u... (St. Paul, MN USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Way Of The Master: How to Share Your Faith Simply, Effectively, Biblically-- The Way Jesus Did (Paperback)
This book is the centerpiece of Comfort's ministry to help Christians to share their faith. It must start with the Bible: "God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble." That's from the book of James, quoting the prophet Isaiah. Think about that for a minute: If you are proud in anything, God is resisting you in that thing. If you are proud in your accomplishments, if you are pleased with what you have done on your own, if you think you're pretty good at something--God will RESIST being a part of those accomplishments. If you are proud in your political opinion, thinking that it is completely correct and that you are smart to figure it out--God will RESIST blessing your political efforts. If you are proud in your religion, preaching hate to others who aren't in it, or concerned more about being right than about God and others--God will RESIST being a part of your religious practice! Worst of all, if you are proud in your righteousness, if you think you are a good person, if you compare yourself to others and judge yourself good--God will RESIST bringing you to salvation!
Instead, if you look at your accomplishments and count them as total garbage (Phil 3:7-8) so that you may gain Christ, if you submit your political opinions to God's will and plan, if you seek him first ahead of particular practices or ordinances, and if you consider yourself a completely depraved, sinful wretch unworthy of any of God's glory (Rom 7, Mark 10, Is 64, Rom 3:9-20, countless other verses) he will give you grace! He will save you! He will lift you up! The Gospel of Christ doesn't work on the proud--first, God must make them humble. How can we Christians be God's workers to do this? By helping the self-righteous ones around us to see their sin, to see how short of "good" they have come, to urge them to test themselves against God's law that they might realize their sin, become humble, and be driven to the cross to recieve the grace of God. Ray Comfort in this book lays out these Biblical principles that should be a huge wake-up call to the modern church--we've been doing it wrong for a hundred years!

Simply the Best Evangelism Book To Date,
By
This review is from: The Way Of The Master: How to Share Your Faith Simply, Effectively, Biblically-- The Way Jesus Did (Paperback)
God has raised up Ray Comfort for such a time as this. Comfort came to the United States from New Zealand with a passion to win souls for Jesus here in the streets of America's largest cities. From his studies, his time in the Word, and in prayer God gave him one of the best evangelism teachings I have ever read.
Comfort focuses on using the Law of God (Deut. 5:1-21). He shows in this work how using the Ten Commandments can truly bring conviction (Romans 3:19-20; Galatians 3:15-29; 1 Timothy 1:8-11; James 2:9). Comfort demonstrates that this was how Jesus shared the gospel (Luke 18:18-27) and also the Apostles in Acts (Acts 24:25). This book in a very simple but biblical way shows us the importance of sharing our faith (Mark 16:15-16). Comfort's illustrations are worth the price of the book. (...)

This book has changed my life dramatically! If you're considering buying a book about evangelism, whether you're timid, bold, new at all of this, an experienced preacher, this book is it! I recommend it by far over any other book on the subject!

Essential Reading!,
This review is from: The Way Of The Master: How to Share Your Faith Simply, Effectively, Biblically-- The Way Jesus Did (Paperback)
This book is probably the most foundational, and much needed book on salvation, conversion, and proper evangelism today. You can't get far into the book until you realize that the modern styles of trying to crank out decisions and more programs simply isn't working - and it's all backed up by statistics.
Besides that, Ray really uses down to earth logic to back up all of the hard-hitting Biblical points that he makes. This book is essential - required - for anyone who has any desire to ever lead a person to Christ.

Modern Christianity's wakeup call!,

This review is from: The Way Of The Master: How to Share Your Faith Simply, Effectively, Biblically-- The Way Jesus Did (Paperback)
This book should be REQUIRED reading in every church (next to the Bible, of course)! If the teachings in this book were to actually catch on, we would likely see an unprecedented revival! The truths revealed in this book have the potential revitalize the modern church from the inside out! Powerful stuff!!!
Satan DEFINITELY doesn't want you to read this book! It reveals the subversive tactics that he has used in order to weaken the Body of Christ. PLEASE, ask yourself: What is more important to God? "Your Best Life Now", or Revival? Remember Christ's warning: "For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me will find it." If you answered "Revival" to the question above, you're right! READ THIS BOOK!!! Buy several copies for group study!!! If you answered "Your Best Life...", first, examine your faith , then READ THIS BOOK!!!
