5.0 out of 5 stars Marriage of Magick and Mysticism
This book is unique in that it straddles the divide between mysticism and magick. This difference is explained very well in Dion Fortune's book The Training And Work Of An Initiate. In short, mysticism aims at the speediest possible attainment of the divine union of the soul with its source and in order to achieve this it eliminates all that causes separation. Occultism...

2.0 out of 5 stars Mysticism-lite
This book takes one far afield from the brilliant world of mysticism and onto a fuzzy, unproductive side-track. Perhaps those who are desperate for anything to enrich contemporary life may indeed benefit, somehow, but feeding the poor would go infinitely farther / or certainly gardening would be FAR more beneficial.Read all the real books on mystical consciousness by...

5.0 out of 5 stars Marriage of Magick and Mysticism, December 20, 2003
This review is from: The Way of Mystery: Magick, Mysticism & Self-Transcendence (Paperback)
Occultism on the other hand, aims to organise and master phenomena and bring them into harmony with the eternal law of the real.

Nema provides guidelines for the solitary spiritual practitioner by using some techniques of magick to complement the way of the mystic. She uses both Western and Eastern wisdom and techniques in this practical guide to exploring the inner realms. A great teacher, she points out the pitfalls and the plateaus and gently guides the reader to the next step. The ways she provides to achieve altered states of consciousness are safe, effective and wholesome.

The Way Of Mystery concludes with a short but inspiring book of mystical revelations. This work contains illustrations, appendices, a glossary of terms, a bibliography and an index. I recommend it for the novice and the experienced spiritual practitioner alike.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Good Read for the Beginner, July 5, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: The Way of Mystery: Magick, Mysticism & Self-Transcendence (Paperback)
Nema craftfully weaves magick and mysticism together in this book. She provides a few basic "how to"'s, but spends more time discussing the theory and the philosophy of magick and mysticism.

Her approach is one of a guide, not dictating much of anything, but constantly encouraging the seeker to find his or her own way to the Mystery. She is very clear that there are many ways (including her own Maat Magick) to approach the Mystery, and one must actually practice them to achieve some semblence of enightenment - though absolutely no denominational bias is present.

If you are a beginner, this book will encourage you to dive deeper into some of the classical works. If you are a student along the path, it may seem a little simplistic, but it isn't so much so that it is a wasted read. A good addition to your bookshelf.

5.0 out of 5 stars A non-denominational examination & presentation on mysticism, April 9, 2003
This review is from: The Way of Mystery: Magick, Mysticism & Self-Transcendence (Paperback)
The Way Of Mystery: Magick, Mysticism & Self-Transcendence by mystic and magickian Nema is a non-denominational examination and presentation on mysticism and metaphysical studies. Techniques for meditation, paths to magick, and insights on opening human perceptions to the cosmos fill the pages of this thoughtful, inspirational, and informative guide. The Way Of Mystery is an enthusiastically recommended addition to Metaphysical Studies reference collections and reading lists.

Underhill, first. They contain incredibly transforming truth and instruction. This is mysticism-lite to such an extreme that only the lite shines-through.
