I'm planning my pilgrimage, and this little booklet was highly reviewed for good reasons: it's small (lightweight and easy to carry in a backpack), colorful, and contains detailed descriptions of every place we'll visit while we walk. However, the descriptions and specific instructions are sometimes hard to understand without more maps. All the same, it is without equal among the Camino de Santiago travel guides. It's a "must-have" for planning the trip. I look forward to using it.

About 8 years ago I did the camino from St Jean to Santiago. At the time I had not information what so ever about the trip, only that I needed to start in St. Jean. So I did just that, flying into Paris, taking a train to St. Jean started walking. To be totally honest, not having any maps, guide books or people with me was terrifying. It wasn't till a couple of week into the trip that I found the older version of this book discarded or lost at a water fountain by the side of the road. I took the book and it was awesome! It was so nice to have an idea of where I was walking from day to do. I was essential. I now knew which of the towns on the road had a restaurant, food store, refugio etc. It really saved my pilgrimage. Up till the point that I found the book I was considering going back home. As I went along the Camino I found my self throwing away things I didn't need, and as I went day to day I tore out the pages I had already traveled. This was nice because i had less weight, but not I don't have the book as a reference.Good luck to anyone going on the pilgrimage.

I haven't yet hiked the trail, but the book appears to be a plausible trail guide, with good detail & clarity.
