Book Description

April 1, 2000
Walking is the most popular exercise in the world. Here Jacques MoraMarco infuses walking with an Eastern, holistic approach to fitness. He encourages people to walk to reduce stress, increase vitality, and become more balanced and centered. He also introduces the concepts of chi and different ways of breathing. Although this way of walking offers a very gentle workout, the method will produce noticeable results in improved energy levels, physical fitness, and mental well-being.
-- Walking is a simple, inexpensive, and injury-free form of exercise suitable for people of all ages and fitness levels. Millions of people walk for exercise every day -- in the park, down the street, or at the local shopping mall
-- Unlike other walking titles, The Way of Walking demonstrates how to enhance every walk by incorporating Eastern health practices
-- Jacques MoraMarco is an established authority on Chinese health and martial arts

5.0 out of 5 stars The Way of Walking: Eastern Strategies for Vitality, etc., June 30, 2000
This review is from: Way of Walking: Eastern Strategies for Vitality, Longevity, and Peace of Mind (Paperback)
Dr. Moramarco's book covers a wide range of topics related to wellness, and explains them in a way that laymen can understand.

I have studied martial arts and Tai Chi Chuan for the better part of a decade, often following my teachers through strange exercises and not knowing why. The Way of Walking explains why certain breathing exercises are vital to performance, and greatly aid in improving health. I learned more from this book than from many of my instructors.

While I took a lot of usefull information from this book, what really surprised me was my mother's reaction to it. Before I had finished reading it, my mother started flipping through it. After a few minutes she commandeered my copy and took it home. Now my mother couldn't care less about martial arts or Eastern philosophy. But she does care about her health. She read the entire book and high-lighted the sections having to do with nutrition and breathing exercises. She is already starting to implement some of the healthy sugestions in the book, and is even talking about starting Tai Chi.

I really can't express how good this book is, both for martial artist and couch potato looking to turn over a new (healthy) leaf. I can only recomend that you read it for yourself.

This review is from: Way of Walking: Eastern Strategies for Vitality, Longevity, and Peace of Mind (Paperback)
I am an avid exercise enthusiast from California. I have seen just about every fitness fad and routine in my many years, with my thirst for information on this subject. This book has introduced me to principals and exercises unknown to me that I find incredibly interesting and health enhancing. I have abandoned my current exercise routine and have begun some of Dr. Moramarco's exercises---I feel great! Thank so much, Dr. Moramarco! Norman
