2.0 out of 5 stars Want to love it, but it doesn't hang together
Chopra frustrates me. This is the second book of his that I've read, and both books (this one, and /The Book of Secrets/) frustrate me because Chopra is clearly an intelligent, insightful, and compassionate man; yet so far he has failed to impress me in his ability to impart his understanding in a coherent way.

/The Way of the Wizard/ has a structure of...

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect ... for those who are ready ..., October 9, 2003
This review is from: The Way of the Wizard: Twenty Spiritual Lessons for Creating the Life You Want (Hardcover)
I have been reading and studying works of theology, spirituality, philosophy and mysticism for over twenty years, following my own path and doing my best to discern truth from the writings of Christian, Hindu, Buddhist and other backgrounds. I have a library of treasured works that have helped me along a journey that has taken me from a time of profound confusion, doubt, dread, depression, anxiety and pain to a life of pervasive peace, consistent joy and ever growing love.

In that vast library of works, many of the books I've read I considered great ... exceptionally well suited to guide me through the particular phase of life through which I was going ... but NO book I've EVER read was MORE PERFECTLY written for where I am now in my life than The Way of the Wizard.

Having been on this journey as long as I have, I can see how this work would seem fluffy and insubstantial to many and perhaps even most people who would read it. Had it been around for me to pick up 20 or even 10 years ago, I'm quite certain I wouldn't have understood it much or considered it profound. But when I finished reading this book for the first time (which I did in one sitting), it was as if the book had been written specifically for me. It rang so true to the precise experience of life I've had for the past several decades that at points I laughed out loud from the pure joy of recognition.

Others have written about the contents of this book ... I've chosen to address the way it left me feeling. There are those of you out there for whom that will be the more telling review. You know who you are.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Way of the Wizard, February 21, 2005
By
This review is from: The Way of the Wizard: Twenty Spiritual Lessons for Creating the Life You Want (Hardcover)
I read this book every year. It was published in 1995 - and I've read it cover to cover 10 times and referred to it dozens of times more for inspiration. It's thrilling to discover that you are a wizard - powerful, brilliant, a universal citizen with the ability (and responsibility) to heal your own heart and the heart of the planet. If you believe, as I do, in magic and our co-creator status, you will love this book too. It inspires, motivates, educates and reassures mind, heart and soul of our sacred purpose. I think Deepak Chopra is brilliant and this book was a giant step for me on my spiritual path.

5.0 out of 5 stars Simply a wonderful stroy of myth and magic., March 9, 1997
By A Customer
This review is from: The Way of the Wizard: Twenty Spiritual Lessons for Creating the Life You Want (Hardcover)
Becoming a Wizard isn't a process it's a journey. An awakening. I have expereinced a letting go and a change that I can only describe as magical. The words and thoughts that are on these pages are both mystical and transdescent. When the student is ready the teacher will appear, and when the teacher is ready the Master will appear, and when the Master is complete he will look no further because he will have arrived at the beginning and realized that he was a Wizard all along. This will happen to some of us sooner than others. There is no race, and no reward for the one who gets here first. There is plenty of room for all, and when we realize this truth, Ego leaves us and what we are left with is our spirit. This book will help you discover these insights.....

This review is from: The Way of the Wizard: Twenty Spiritual Lessons for Creating the Life You Want (Hardcover)
I started reading this book because my mother read it and told me I'd find it interesting. I thought it would be cheesy or boring. Was I wrong. This book changed my life, my perceptions, my way of looking at the world. Everything in my life is brighter than it was before. At first I was wary, but the way Deepak eases you into his timeless knowledge is wonderful. He doesn't force his ideas on you, but builds one idea on top of the other through the book, and you can really see the truth in his words. I am forever thankful that I stumbles on this work by Mr. Chopra.

4.0 out of 5 stars It's Way of Wizard Deepak - Invoking Spirituality?, April 1, 2003
This review is from: The Way of the Wizard: Twenty Spiritual Lessons for Creating the Life You Want (Hardcover)
Following my fav The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success, came by this Book The Way of Wizard, the twenty spiritual lessons that help readers go beyond ordinary reality by opening insights to attain values of spiritual transformation in everyday life Each lesson awakens the mind and turns us towards a more rewarding journey and this all presented in the form of classic teacher-student stories, Merlin's instructions to a young Arthur revealing the master of the Way of Wizard. Modern Life is full of pressures this way and out and lot of chaos n disorders that make one feel stressed out at times. One stumble but take care not to fail, says Merlin and has a logic on every Lesson quotes that follows with Understanding of Lesson & Living with the Lesson. Deepak conjures up the voice of Merlin as the personification of our wisest self. Some Quotes that stirs to trigger thoughts in our mind in the book that I like most are:

Lesson 1 : "A wizard exists in all of us. This wizard sees and knows everything and nature reflects the mood of this wizard."
Lesson 2: "The essence of the wizard is transformation" Shrug the seeds of `ego' and transform - See innocently and you will give life!
Lesson 4: "Who am I?" The only question worth asking and the only one never answered"
Lesson 8: "Power is a double edged sword. Ego power seeks to control and dominate. The wizard's power is the power of Love."
Lesson 10: "When the Shadow is embraced, it can be healed. When it is healed, it turns into love."
Lesson 12: "The Uncertainty you feel inside is a doorway to wisdom"
Lesson 14: "Lose everything, and the real will still remain"
Lesson 15: "The purest love lies where it is least expected - in un-attachment
Lesson 19: "Every desire is created by some past desire. The chain of desire never ends. It is life itself."

Cherishing dreams and living in realities; Creating Awareness within and leading to transformation; Living in innocence and shrugging off the ego; Being an achiever and giver at the other end; seeking fulfillment in life is all about the Way of Wizard from Deepak to achieve love, fulfillment and spiritual minds to lead life to live in happiness. Is this Possible, I wonder? Anyways, a good read that keeps your Thought process on the move.

5.0 out of 5 stars If you Need it, you should Read it...., August 8, 2008
This review is from: The Way of the Wizard: Twenty Spiritual Lessons for Creating the Life You Want (Hardcover)
I can't add much to the rave reviews already posted. To do so would be redundant and cheapening. All I'd like to say is, if you're reading these reviews and are on a quest or journey outside of and beyond our routine and sometimes mundane lives, then reading Chopra and this book in particular is a must! He writes this in an entertaining way, but the content will speak to you in a personal and profound way! At least it did to me. Read and Enjoy!

5.0 out of 5 stars The new frontier is within ... A mystical journey!, January 31, 1997
By A Customer
This review is from: The Way of the Wizard: Twenty Spiritual Lessons for Creating the Life You Want (Hardcover)
Deepak Chopra is a fascinating speaker. His knowledge base as a physician somehow enhances his mystical and philosophical message. This work, however, is anything but medical; it is profound. The Way of the Wizard is a keeper, the type of book one re-reads often. The text is soothing and attempts to stimulate and transform the reader to a state of enhanced consciousness. Each mystical lesson is imparted in the form of short stories, using the main characters, a young King Arthur and Merlin, the Medieval Wizard. These mini plots are then analyzed and explained by the author

5.0 out of 5 stars Do Not read if you want to stay the same., May 16, 1997

This review is from: The Way of the Wizard: Twenty Spiritual Lessons for Creating the Life You Want (Hardcover)
Very compelling. You might want to read it backwards - that is lesson 20 first down to lesson 1. Warning: your bag of perceptions could take a major shift -or- as Marrianne Williamson "A Return to Love" would a mighty big miracle is about to occur! Deepak's writing has a way of directly connecting with you and effectively communicating about spirit. -(Be Light)
