Sump Pump Back/Up System,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Wayne ESP45 24-Volt Cast Iron Battery Back Up Sump Pump System (Tools & Home Improvement)
Hurricane Irene on the East Coast brought many flooded basements, mine included. I wanted a system which would work as a battery and electrical back up. The cast iron pump is very powerful when testing. A Dedicated Electrical Line was required per the instructions (unsure of why) along with a separate Drain Pipe which connects into the original before exiting the house. The pump sits on a couple bricks so it sits higher than the regular pump. I also purchased 2 Deep Cell 12-Volt Marine Batteries to create the 24-Volt system in case of an extended power outage.

Backup Pump Only - Super Loud Alarm Can Only Be Disabled Temporarily,
This review is from: Wayne ESP45 24-Volt Cast Iron Battery Back Up Sump Pump System (Tools & Home Improvement)
Please read the title before reading anything about this sump pump. I gave this the highest rating because, in function, this pump, it's charging system and energy delivery to the pump, work flawlessly.
When I went to install it as a primary pump it made very loud audible warning tones as the pump and float switch were being plugged in. I was ok with that @ first, if we loose a connection, I want to be alerted. But, in the middle of the night, this sump pump started to alarm again, once every 5 minutes. I pushed the Alarm Mute button only to find out that this WILL ALARM EVERY 4 HOURS if run as a primary sump pump, even if the sump pump is operating normally - VERY BAD MARKETING and eventual DESIGN of this function of this sump pump. Even as a backup sump pump there are some areas of the country where power is routinely shutdown for more than 4 hours @ a time. This 4 hour alarm will be overwehlming for some. I called Wayne the next morning to find out how to disable the alarm permanently. They told me - no way, can't help you, it was only designed to be a secondary backup sump pump. "You bought the wrong pump". We used to have a Wayne ISP40, a beautiful and quiet sump pump for 3 years. I left a glowing review of this product years ago on Amazon. All in vain, for Wayne no longer supports this pump. So I saw the ESP45 pump and purchased it from AltaPower. BTW, viewing other battery powered sump pumps out there, I was not impressed. Also, if you are pumping a lot of water, a battery/inverter to a normal AC pump is terribly ineffecient. With our ISP40 we saved our basement and nearly $20/month in electric. I didn't buy the wrong pump, I bought from the wrong mfg.
