1.0 out of 5 stars Pump overheats
Pump works well for short periods of time. I use this pump to flush my tankless water heater. The water heater instruction manual says to flush for at least an hour. I cannot run the pump for more than 30 minutes before the thermal overload trips and the motor shuts off. Motor case gets too hot to touch.

I use this pump to transfer water from a 35 gallon transport tank that I haul in the back of my pickup truck into the water tank of my travel trailer. It readily pushes water through a 50' standard water hose at approximately the same rate as you would expect if it were coming from a faucet. This allows me to transfer my 35 gallons of water in about 6-7 minutes. The pump is a simple design that works flawlessly. It should be primed before each use. The water suction attachment (included) will draw water from the bottom of my storage tank, allowing it to be almost completely emptied through the pump.

I was looking for a pump to siphon out excess water from a drainage pipe that runs about 3 feet underground. I had tried a manual pump from Jabsco, but the volume of water I needed to displace was just too much, and the manual pump didn't have proper garden hose connectors. This electric pump from Wayne has both IN and OUT standard garden hose connectors, and works quickly to transfer the water. It would be nice if the electrical cord were a bit longer, but then that's what extension cords are for :) The only priming required was a little cooking oil in the intake and outake. When using, make sure to use the provided intake hose or one not much longer to prevent stressing the pump.

I've owned my waterbed for over 20 years and have moved 4 times using gravity or the syphon kit to drain the mattress. When I replaced the matress in 2006 I got one with a baffle and they told me at the store the best way to drain it without causing damage to the baffle was to pump it out.

The pump worked fine out of the box. It takes a little over an hour to drain a king, but it compressed the matress flat, making it quite easy to fold and carry. I'd never drain a waterbed any other way now.

Solved my problem with emptying rain barrels. This pump proved to be just the ticket to distribute rainwater in the lawn and garden area with enough pressure to even get a decent spray going.

I bought this to pump water out of a storage tank and into our fresh water tank on our camper. Works great! As long as you have 120v. It is small and portable.

4.0 out of 5 stars Meets expectation, September 8, 2009
This review is from: Wayne PC2 115-Volt 340 GPH Portable Transfer Water Pump, Bronze (Tools & Home Improvement)
I am using the Wayne PC2 pump to remove water from a settling tank connected to a koi pond. The settling tank is used to collect for debris such as algae, snails and fish poop. Without the pump, the settling tank water would simply flow into the sewer. With the pump, I am able to recyle the water for landscaping purposes. It works great. The settling tank is 7-8 feet deep and the PC2 pump can withdraw all water with no problem. The only negative is that I have to stop the pump and clear out debris for every hour of use or so. It does not handle solid debris too well.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good little pump so far!, May 2, 2011
This review is from: Wayne PC2 115-Volt 340 GPH Portable Transfer Water Pump, Bronze (Tools & Home Improvement)
If you are looking for a pump that will let you move a little bit of water around, this is a very good little unit. Rated at 340GPH, it is not blazing fast, but it gets the job done well for what I considered to be a very cost effective solution. I have run it for a few hours so far, and setup and operation were quite easy.

For some clarification, the unit does NOT draw 14 amps. It is rated at 120Vac at 2 amps. I found the unit to be not overly noisy either. It is not whisper quite, but it is also not overly loud. When it is running, you know it is running with a moderately low droning noise that sounds like, well, a small pump... It IS a bit louder if you do not get the input hose attached well, as it will suck air through the loose connection, but that was operator error and is clearly outlined in the operator's manual. Once tightned, it was fine.

It says it is a self priming pump, but you have to use a tablespoon of vegetable oil in the input and output ports respectively for startup. No big deal really.

As stated before, I have found this to be a nice little pump if you are not looking for blazing fast water evacuation. If you are, go for the larger pumps that are available.

This is a rugged little pump. The garden hose connections were important to me as we are pumping the water from a rainwater collection system. I pumped through two 50 foot hoses and had pressure equal to that of the house, (we have our own well, so pressure is not equal to that of a city system, but is comparable to the 40-60# typical on a well). I was pleased to see that I could use sprayer nozzle and deadhead the pump with no problem. It's a little loud, but most universal motors are. Good build quality, good pressure, and spare parts in the box. It's worth the money.
