5.0 out of 5 stars DC was never ruled by such queens before Ms. Wayne, June 28, 2010
This review is from: Miss Wayne & The Queens of DC (The Cartel Publications Presents) (Paperback)
Being born in DC and raised in MD reading this book was beyond a treat. I knew the streets by name as they were mentioned in the book and I was able to visualize the very scene being read. Miss Wayne and The Queens of DC is not be underestimated.

While this book appears to be solely about the flamboyant, loving, witty, snappy and compassionate drag queen all "Black & Ugly" fans have come to love it was SO much deeper than that.
It takes you into the worlds of many homosexual men who live "the life daily" it so much deeper than designer bags, beat faces, stuffed bras and padded panties. This is about who these people are and just that, that they are indeed PEOPLE. They have feelings, lives, families and just like everyone else they endure pain, heartbreak, betrayal and secrets. With every page there is a twist and turn beyond the readers expectations.
Along with Miss Wayne fan favorites are revisited in roles of: Parade, Jay, Daffany and Officer D. Hurts. There are even a few scenes where the often hated yet loved Skyy is mentioned through form of flashbacks. These very flashbacks take you deeper into the life and past of Wayne you see the very experiences in life that shaped and molded him into the fabulous queen he is today. You learn why he is so compassionate yet so cutting when need be.

While reading this book respect for the gay and transgendered community multiplied I was taken into their world given a glimpse of what life is like for those so different from us yet so similar. I gave this book 5 stars because it was more than a fictionalized depiction of a gay mans life. It was about mans life PLAIN and SIMPLE. While he is gay and dresses as a woman he is still a man and still HUMAN above all else. It appears often in today's society we look at men and women of a different lifestyle and we form this misguided and misunderstood opinions of them. Granted this is a fiction novel I am well aware of that but I read T. Styles blog and it was mentioned she consulted men of this lifestyle for research for this book. That research is so evident especially in the Metropolitan area. I give much love and respect to the author that is killing the urban literature scene right now. T. Styles. She has written another realistic urban tale that so many people can relate to: Straight, gay, lesbian, transgendered, bi-sexual, CONFUSED whatever you may be, unless you are just closed minded and overly critical (in which case you clearly should not have picked up a book with a drag queen on the cover) this book has something for everyone and is enjoyable for any lifestyle you are living if you are a lover of urban fiction.

Kudos to T. Style on a job AMAZINGLY done.

5.0 out of 5 stars Yes Ms. Styles! We Want Miss Wayne & The Queens of LA!, July 6, 2010

Whoa! Ms. Styles took Miss Wayne to a whole 'notha level! I couldn't believe how different each character was from one another. And just when you think you'd know what was happening, she'd switch it up and give you something more. I absolutely loved this book and have so many favorite scenes from it. For instance the mystery surrounding his mother, and why he didn't want to talk about it. And then...something so sad happened that blew me away. Ms. Styles pulled me in and out of each scene of this book and I could not put it down. You won't put it down. Congrats, Ms. Styles! This has made it to my shelf of favorites! You said at the end of your book you wanted to know from your fans if MISS WAYNE AND THE QUEENS OF LA IS IN ORDER! WELL I SAY YESSS!! YESS!!! YESSS!!1

This was a decent read. Miss Wayne is a very likeable character and I have enjoyed reading about him so far.I enjoyed the flashbacks which gave the readers a little more insight on Wayne's life as a child/teenager.

The current storyline was crazy and filled with so much drama and deceit.I hated Tyrone with a passion and he got exactly what he deserved in the end.As a matter of fact, all the queens in this book were a trip...and I had plenty of LOL moments..as well as some SMH moments.

What took place on page 117 really blew me away and I was shocked at what I was reading.Wow..really??

If you are a fan of Miss Wayne, then I suggest you go ahead and read this book!

Well I really like previous books from this author and I can't say I was all that impressed with this one. It did have its good part speaded here and there but mostly it jumped around and some of the things was just too unreal to visualized. I am really big on checking review before buying a book and I think I was mislead on this one. Again I really like this author and hope that this was just a mix up and she will get back on her game.

This story is of a drag queenn that visit home to go through a whole lot of drama, and let me tell you, her friend are full of DRAMA. One particular friend gets her in all type of trouble and being the Queen that she is, finds a way out. The ending was going into a "OMG" moment, then it slack off. But good luck, I don't think it was that big of a dissapointment.

I loved the Black and Ugly and Black and Ugly as Ever series. They are one of my favorite reads. I couldn't wait for this book to come out. I loved Miss Wayne in the first two books. However, the characters from the Ugly series acted out of character (Parade, Jay, and Daffany) in this tale. I enjoyed all the flashbacks; it was current story line that I was disappointed with. I definitely appreciated the look in the LGBTQ community and getting to know new characters. I just hope that the next book is better than this one.
