Tsujimoto's book on Thiebaud,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Wayne Thiebaud (Paperback)
This book is the one to buy if you are an artist wanting to look at Thiebaud's brushwork up close. (It turns out to be quite straightforward.) There are plenty of large reproductions, and Tsujimoto's essays are clear and informative. She avoids the kind of bloated purple writing that often accompanies art books. It is a bit shorter than Nash's book on Thiebaud, and a bit older, but the reproductions are as good. This book is the better value for me.

This review is from: Wayne Thiebaud (Hardcover)
If you enjoy Wayne Thiebaud's work, this book provides over 100 illustrations, 68 in full color and full scale, in the 206-page book. It is highly comparable to the Steven Nash book at less than half the price.Because it was published in 1985, it omits more recent work, but most of Thiebaud's iconic images were completed by that date (when the artist was 65 years old). It includes landscapes as well as his wonderful paintings of food, the figure and "pop" objects. It was published in conjunction with a museum exhibition and includes full identification of each work shown. Excellent value for a very good artist monograph. |
