This review is from: Wayning Moments (Audio CD)
I thought I was litening to a new recording I just bought, hidden in the 200CD changer. It sounded innovative, sharp, refreshing, with a great play between sax and trumpet and stong help from the bass and drums. I was surprised to find I was not listening to a newly recorded CD but the 39 year old recording of Wayning Moments. This is some great stuff and recorded very well. I would highly recommend it. There is as much great work here by Freddie Hubbard as there is Wayne Shorter. There also is strong backup and sometimes lead from Eddie Higgins on Piano, Jymie Merritt on bass and Marshall Thomspon on Drums. The CD includes the final cut and an alternate take of each some. I especial liked Black Orpheus.
