I am fortunate enough to make my living online.

90% of my income comes from email marketing.

There is no greater feeling in the world than sitting down, spending 20 minutes writing an email and having a few hundred dollars in my paypal account by the end of the day - whether I am selling a service or a digital product.

I am not saying this to brag - I am saying this to hammer home to you the importance of learning EVERYTHING that you can about building an email marketing list AS QUICKLY as you possibly can.

I know of no better way to earn a living.

Pam has put together a great book outlining a few straightforward ways to build an email list of people who are interested in buying from you. The thing I like most about this book is that it isn't complicated.

I recommend you pick this book up if you are struggling to build your very own email list.

Email marketing is still the best way for businesses to sell products. With all of the attention on social media these days, email is often neglected . . . despite the fact that it outperforms social media by a huge margin in almost every market.

The author of this book spends the first few pages answering the question "Why email marketing?", and then gets right to the principles of growing your list.

This is a very actionable book, very easy to use and read. Each principle is contained on one or two pages, most with clear illustrations that make it easy to implement. I've read a few email marketing books, and this one has some tips I had not seen before. If you want a book that you will actually use, get this book. It's not as thorough as the other ones available, but that's part of why its so good. You will be able to read this entire book in less than an hour and implement 5-10 of these principles, at least, in the same day. For $3, its a steal - you will easily earn that back many times over if you just use a few principles for your business and email list.

If you already have a few email marketing books, this one will have a few new things, but you probably know most of it. If you have never read one before and are looking for one to start with, this is highly recommended.

Email is still an important part of an overall marketing strategy, so how do you get a good list to work with? The author of this brisk little book identifies six primary methods:
1. Get more opt-ins at your website.
2. Gather subscribers from social media.
3. Use search and other people's websites.
4. Take action in the real world.
5. Create emails people will want to share.
6. Keep your subscribers once you get them.

For each of these divisions, there are specific tactics -- 50 in all. Start by putting a sign-up box for your emails on every page at your website, not just your homepage or your Contact page. Neely doesn't just announce that, though. She goes on to share research demonstrating the best placement on the page.

Each of the 50 tips is that simple and practical, and each is supported by research, case studies, and/or examples. Neely gives basic how-tos and usually includes information on how difficult a tactic is and what it might cost.

This book doesn't assume much tech knowledge, but there are points where a non-tech-savvy person might feel frustrated. For example, #14, "Ask people who comment on your blog to sign up for your email newsletter," recommends two WordPress plugins. One is identified as a WordPress Plugin, the other is not, and those who don't use WP for their blogs (or don't know whether they do) may not know what to do next. However, many of these items -- including moving or adding a sign-up box -- are things most businesspeople would ask their web pros to do anyway. The explanations for each tip include why you should do it and the steps or tools you'll need for it.

Overall, the tips are very accessible for small businesses.

Concise, cogent, and authoritative--perfect for my needs

As a longtime non-fiction editor, I've developed a knack for quickly gauging a writer's subject-matter command and ability to clearly communicate mastery in well-organized, lingo-free language.

Before reading Pamella Neely's "50 Ways to Grow Your Email Marketing List," I visited her website. A quick scan of the writing quality and organization impressed me, so I invested 15 minutes in reading this book. I could have stopped at the Table of Contents, which is essentially a concise to-do list, and reaped my $3 worth. Fortunately, I kept reading. And will continue to refer to this invaluable resource. I find it heads and above every other Kindle non-fiction book I've purchased and read.

In a very clear style and with helpful charts to illustrate her points, Ms. Neely guided me through everything I need to know before starting to implement a long-overdue e-mail marketing list. I can't imagine finding this expertise elsewhere for only a few dollars. But the price isn't really the point, is it? You can always return a Kindle book. Rather, it's the investment of your time, in reading the book, and this is an investment well made.

Pam Neely has been a copywriter and online marketer for over 15 years. Over that time she's helped dozens of small businesses find and retain customers in cost effective ways, including email marketing, search engine optimization, pay per click marketing and content development.

She has worked at ad agencies in New York City and at small Internet companies in several states. She holds a Master's Degree in Direct and Interactive Marketing from New York University and is the proud winner of a New York Press Association award.

Pam's all-time greatest marketing accomplishment was a split-test of a landing page that resulted in $900,000 in ad spend savings. The test, run with the free tool Google Website Optimizer, took one afternoon to set up.

Pam has also had a series of her own businesses. She may well be a serial entrepreneur. You be the judge: She assembled and sold a gift box of edible gold dust, frankincense incense and myrrh-infused shea butter out of a New York studio apartment. She's run a used bookstore through She's built and earned a handsome AdSense income from a series of websites about how to start various small businesses. She's made money growing freshwater ornamental shrimp from her home office in northern New Mexico.

Her most recent accomplishment was running the Vancouver, BC marathon on May 5th, 2013.
