5.0 out of 5 stars Great for Everyone!
I'm hardly a huge sports fan, but 30 minutes into picking up my boyfriend's copy I officially became an expert on everything from legendary home run calls to obscure poker terminology. This book rocks!

2.0 out of 5 stars Not good for a real sports fan
I am almost done with the uncyclopedia. I have made it through T and so far I am unimpressed

there is way too much about the "original" rules of sports, the first inducted classes into the hall of fames, and way, way too much olympics.

The killer is that there are tons of errors and misspellings. It seems like it was written by a 3rd...

4.0 out of 5 stars Falls just short of perfection, June 6, 2007
This review is from: 23 Ways to Get to First Base: The ESPN Uncyclopedia (Hardcover)
Despite the so far unanimous 5 stars by first time reviewers, I found the collection to be slightly less than perfect. Witty and entertaining for sure though!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Information I never thought I needed to know!, June 6, 2007
This review is from: 23 Ways to Get to First Base: The ESPN Uncyclopedia (Hardcover)
Now that I have read this awesome book, I find that I was ignorant of some of the best and funniest trivia!
Now I know what country MYA stands for in the Olympics and that Jason Varitek played in the Little League World Series and a Major League World Series. There is so much information that you never knew you needed to know!
This compilation of well researched sports particulars is a must have for anyone who is a sports fan. A great gift for kids who like sports and like a quick and easy read. I am sending this book with my 15 year old nephew to camp this summer. I am sure he will be sharing the information in this book with all his bunkmates.
This is also going to make a great Father's Day gift.

It'll keep them one step ahead of the counselors and their friends throughout the summer!!!

Well done.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for the Sports Fanatic or Those that Love Sports Fanatics, May 27, 2007
This review is from: 23 Ways to Get to First Base: The ESPN Uncyclopedia (Hardcover)
Whether you know everything about sports or nothing this book is a great addition to your library.

It gives you tons of information about everything you (or those you love) want to know about sports!

It is a great way to play trivia (aka trick) those people who think they know everything about sports and show them they really don't!

Once again Belsky proves he is one of the greatest modern day sports writers!

5.0 out of 5 stars Even your girlfriend will like this sports book, May 24, 2007
This review is from: 23 Ways to Get to First Base: The ESPN Uncyclopedia (Hardcover)
Fantastic book filled with interesting, fun trivia. I'm not even a huge sports fan, but I couldn't put this book down. Some of the facts in this book are insanely hilarious and weird too (in a good way). If your boyfriend thinks he knows all there is to know about sports, I guarantee after he reads this book, he will be humbled.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great book to impress your nephews with!!, June 18, 2007

This review is from: 23 Ways to Get to First Base: The ESPN Uncyclopedia (Hardcover)
23 WAYS is a great sports book filled with awesome trivia. The Yogi Berra quotes alone are awesome! I got a copy for my my best friend's 14 year old, but his younger brother is holding it hostage so i just sent another their way. A great addition to any sports fan's library--or the library of someone trying to impress their favorite sports fans.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great trivia -- my son loves stumping me, June 8, 2007

A great book for summer -- fun to read, lots of surprises, nice fresh layout, and full of useful(less) info. I got it for myself, but my son has taken it over and loves stumping me. You may not need to know who's been fooled by the hidden ball trick, the text of Vince Lombardi's famous speech, or the criteria for an Olympic "sport" (always been a mystery to me) -- but it's in there. An all-around refreshing, easy read and great sports resource.
