Good For Beginners,
This review is from: 101 Ways to Jump Start Your Intuition (Paperback)
"I've written this book to show you the many ways in which you can develop, access, and above all, *trust* your intuition. I've created 101 different ways to do so that will enable you to tap into this vital resource-one that is deep within all of us and that can be harnessed and trained. All you need is a little help to *jump-start* it, so you can use it in every area of your life." -John Holland
Psychic medium John Holland, author of Born Knowing and Psychic Navigator, has created a 213-page book dedicated to encouraging individuals to access, cultivate, and ultimately trust their inner sense of knowing. Whether delivered through bodily sensations, emotions, inner-imagining (clairvoyance) or other "antennae", Holland affirms that every person has an inborn guidance system known as intuition. However, noticing, developing, and acting upon Guidance can be another story altogether! As a result, Holland has written a gift-book size introduction to the world of intuitive navigation called 101 Ways to Jump-Start Your Intuition. Each mini-lesson comes with its own affirmation or inspirational statement to complement and strengthen the 101 lessons. Some of these quick and easy lessons include: Strengthening Your Aura: As I strengthen my aura, only positive energy can enter my space, and only positive energy can go out. "When your aura is strong and healthy, it acts as a protective shield to help you stay emotionally and mentally strong and physically healthy, and also enhances your intuitive abilities. To strengthen your aura, maintain a balanced and healthy diet; try to get outdoors more often; breathe in clean, fresh air; exercise regularly; and go for a massage or bodywork. Take time to rest, relax, and meditate regularly. All of this will greatly assist in building your intuitive strength as your reinforce your precious aura." Communication: I express myself clearly, and I do matter. "The throat center represents communication, expression, sound, and creativity. We have a habit of *not* speaking up, which can cause blockages. Humming, singing aloud (the shower is a great place for this), and chanting can assist in balancing this center, and the soothing color blue resonates with it. Imagine a beautiful blue sky before you, breathe in this color, and let it surround you and move through this center. Ask yourself, `Do I need to speak up or say something that needs to be said?' Express yourself!" Seeing What You Feel: Everyone and everything is made up of energy. "Psychometry means `measure of the soul'. It's the practice of holding someone's personal possession and then reading the object. It's as if you're sensing or seeing through your hands. Ask a friend for an object that belongs to someone else. Close your eyes and give off the information that's coming into your mind *before* your logical mind kicks in. What are you feeling? Are there any pictures, letters, words, or colors? Okay, now try holding someone's business card-and see what you feel!" Mindful breathing and visualizing the movement of light appear in quite a few of the lessons in the book, so Holland appears to be a big proponent of those exercises. He also includes lessons on the 7 chakras (including a diagram in the back of the book) and the energy of colors. In fact, a chart explaining the meaning of ten different colors is also included in the back of 101 Ways to Jump-Start Your Intuition. Some of the lessons seem repetitive, even using similar phrasing. Also, quite a few of the exercises seemed to focus on visualization and manifesting your desires. While Holland provides some sound advice in these general lessons, this book is geared more towards those unfamiliar with energy, chakras, intuition, and accessing inner Guidance. If you'd like quick reminders on how to center yourself, access intuition, and follow Guidance, 101 Ways to Jump-Start Your Intuition does the job. It would also make a lovely gift book for those curious about honing their psychic skills. If you'd like something more comprehensive, however, I'd recommend Trust Your Vibes: Secret Tools for Six-Sensory Living by Sonia Choquette.

John has a wonderful gift where he cares about helping humanity realize that we ALL have this same ability, as opposed to only a select few. If you have been looking for a book to help you open up your intuition, this is one book that will help you to do that. Above anything, trust your first gut felings. If you have been having difficulty doing that, this book will help you through the process. Very Useful,

I had the pleasure of meeting John Holland last year at one of his workshops. He is not only an engaging person but clearly an expert at what he does. Intuition must be devloped, like any skill. Some may possess more of it than others but everyone can enhance their intuitive abilities and this book gives dozens of clever ways to do just that. Did you ever have a gut instinct but fail to follow up on it--to your dismay? This book is for you. I am a psychologist and intuitive consultant and know the value--especially in your personal relationships--of having a well-devloped intuitive prowess. John's book will help you in that area.

the book is small enough to put in my purse. Every time I have a few minutes alone I read it. It has short tips on how to become a more relaxed person, and open to receive "messages" from above.

This book was my first introduction to gifted medium John Holland, and needless to say, I was hooked after reading it. Holland is a unique author in my opinion in that he teaches highly effective psychic developement techniques that are not only easy to learn and practice, but are actually FUN to do as well. And he breaks them down into quite simple laymens terms, like having a conversation with a friend that is super easy to understand.
A highly recommended beginners pocketbook manual.

I HAVE HEARD IT SAID, (SOMEWHERE), THAT THERE ARE...N O...SUPERNATURAL
PHENOMENA....ONLY NATURAL PHENOMENA WE DO NOT UNDERSTAND. This small, elegant, easily understood and read little book, can open doors to those things considered part of Humankind's "sixth sense"...or intuitive feelings. (You know -- when you "just have a feeling" you should or should not do something, should go, or not go somewhere...or "sense" that a person or place is good, or evil...etc.) Just about every child has this "sixth sense" in greater or lesser degree -- and, sadly, in greater or lesser degree, adults, (or rather, MOST adults), lose this "sixth sense" as they mature. Losing this natural ability has little or nothing to do with just growing older, however. It is, in a way, a self-preservation measure against the evils one usually meets in the world. For instance, if, when you go to work every day, you always pass a homeless person, you will at first feel great sorrow, and want to help him or her. But then you realize that there are SO many homeless -- indiviudals and families, both -- in the world, that just helping this one person won't really change things that much. And besides, with inflation and your limited salary, you are also constantly wondering, within your frightened subconscious, whether you -- with or without your own family -- might, indeed, somehow wind up like the this proud but pitiful person you must pass every day as you go to your job. Gradually, you block the feelings, (of sadness, of guilt, and of fear), that you first had when you first saw this person. You do this to stop yourself from additional anguish every time you see her pr him. You NEED the energy the anguish, pain and guilt would otherwise take away. You NEED it to do your own job successfully....and, inevitably, to get to and from work with your sanity intact.... It's normal to do this. Normal and natural. But, along with anything else you may lose by this self-defense mechanism, you are also, most definitely, losing your own "sixth sense". DAUPHNE DU MAURIER, writer of the classic novel, 'REBECCA', and many other well-known books, once stated it this way in an interview in a woman's magazine. She said that men and women are born EQUALLY psychic...but that men usually lose their psychic abilities because they must go out into the world to work -- whilst women usually keep theirs, as they don't go out to work....or didn't, until very recently. FOR THIS REASON, AND THIS REASON ALONE, WAS DAUPHNE DU MAURIER AGAINST WOMEN GOING INTO THE WORK FORCE IF AT ALL POSSIBLE. But of course, one needs to work. Male or female, one needs money. And, happily, it seems that NOT every person who enters the working world loses their psychic sense. JOHN HOLLAND, an internationally-known and celebrated psychic, is living proof! : ) In this small, easy-to-read book, he shares basic ways to improve -- or get back -- your intuitive sense. (It's almost as if you were a left-handed person, forced in school to learn to write with your right hand....and now is wishing to re-learn what before was so natural....) In his introduction, Mr. Holland, (on page 2), says.."These 101 lessons are fun, quick, and easy to do. You can read one lesson every day, or simply open the book and know that whatever lesson you choose is the one that was meant just for you....." Each Lesson is on two facing pages. The first contains, (in BIG print), the lesson number, and the lesson title. In slightly smaller print, below, is a comprehensive statement of a few words, explaining the title, in an affirmation form. The facing page, in slightly smaller, (but still easy-to-read size), print, explores the subject more fully, in two to five well-written statements. Each individual affirmation and following further exploration, is presented on it's own "wallpaper"....images helping the reader to focus on each individual idea, individually. The book pages, (pictures and text), are printed in a light-to-dark lavendar colour, with black, (and or white) printing. The variations in the print colours, (sometimes white printing on darker backgrounds, sometimes dark violet printing on lighter ones), keep the reader focused on the one idea at a time that is presented. The continuity of using white and violet, in different ways, makes the reader aware that all of these indiviudal, and simple, basic, intuitive (!) ideas are, in reality, also connected. For instance, IDEA 43 is presented thusly: M.A.N.I.F.E.S.T.I.N.G (Underneath a from-the-bottom-angle of a beautiful, upward-curving flight of stone stairs, surrounded by greenery, seemingly from a planned-to-resemble-the-wilds English garden, is printed in large white letters: "I KNOW WHAT I WANT AND WHERE I'M GOING....." On the opposite page, which has on it's right-hand border, a continuation of the picture of the garden, is a darkened "ribboned" area, (to make the lettering stand out), and on the darkened area, is white lettering with the following words: .... .... HOW do you make your goals and desires come alive? Having a picture in your mind, (of the Highest Good), and charging it with energy can help turn it into reality. Visualize a goal in it's final resolution. Now, Feel what it's like to have a successful outoome. See it happening here and now. Nain- tain and charge this image as you breathe energy into it. Feel the excitement, the energy and the joy. Let it go, trust, and release it to the universe. `````````````````````` If this doesn't get you on the way to self-visualization, on the way to being more in tune with your feelings....and to realize, consciously, how deeply engrained your feelings really ARE, (whether they are repressessed or expressed, most of the time), perhaps nothing will. Others of the 101 Ways, include: "Strethening Your Intuitive Abilities", "Understanding Others", "Silence", "Using Inner Guidance", "Connecting With Your Feelings", "Gut Feelings", "Trust", "Using Your Creative Side", "Listening With Your Intuition", "Being Responsible", "Moving Forward",t and, (No. 101), "Believing In Yourself". After the 101 Ways, there is a one-page chart on "The Energy of Colors". Several good, (but differing), things are said about each color. They include the "Roy G. Biv" colours of the spectrum, which I learnt about in high school science -- Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo, Violet", and three more -- White, Brown and Gold. It's fun to check on these...and search out not only your, (and your friends' and family's), favourite colour, but also the cclours you are most surrounded with, at home, commuting, at work, and at play. (And which colours to wear -- and NOT wear -- to such things as job interviews and family reunions!) On the next page is an outline of a person seated in the "Lotus Position", and the location of the seven "Energy Centers" of the body pointed out. (Crown, Third Eye, Throat, Heart, Solar Plexus, Sacral, and Root.) No futher explaination is given of these energy centers, (that's for other books, I suppose)...but the listing and showing of where they are, is intriguing, and makes one want to study more. The next page is entitled, "About The Author", and lists Mr. Holland's accomplishments. It also shows how to contacyt Mr. Holland, and/or sign up for his free e-newsletter. On the back of this page is a listing of addresses, phone numbers and e-mail addresses, for contacting "Hay House", the publshers of this book. Not only in the USA...but world-wide, as well! The very last page invites readers to tune into HayHouse radio, and shows a link, ([...]), to the radio station's website. (Worth at least a look, I think, for anyone interested in these things. As I know I am!) This book is printed in a smallish, easy-to-carry size, and on the VERU best of "slick", (ie: thick, coated, magazine-style), paper.) It is an intriguing peek into what we were all born with...but which too many of us have lost part, or all of, due to the vicissitudes of adult life. Mr. Holland has written many other books as well -- bigger, more detailed books, I am sure. But this is a great place to begin! It is simple, easy-to-understand, full of common sense and wisdom....and beautiful, thought-provoking photographs. So, while this small book may not be "Mr. Holland's Opus", it certainly is a wonderfully detailed primary book. Reading it, one realizes, again and again, and again, that "The Sixth Sense" really isn't esoteric or mysterious. (I begin to wonder, as I run through the pages, if this is how the "Organians", from the STAR TREK Classic episode, "Errand of Mercy", started. In this fictional story, these "Organians" were pure enetgy, and could do just about anything with their minds!) In the real world, happily, thie "sixth sense", is truly part of EVERY Human's birth-right, and here, Mr. John Holland, who has kept, and/or reclaimed his own sixth sense, graciously and easily shows the rest of us how. in 101 easy-to-follow steps, to begin to reclaim our own! Highest recommendation! : )

Intuition Snippets & Explanations,
By
This review is from: 101 Ways to Jump Start Your Intuition (Paperback)
This is a tiny pocket-book, meaning you can carry it around in your pocketbook or pocket. The book measures 4" x 4" square and is less than ½ inch thick with 211 pages of information. Primarily, it is a book of snippets plus explanations of "ways" to tune into our intuitions a wee bit at a time. You could also call these little reminders. Our intuition is our inner-knowing, our hunches or nudges. The concept is that when you are able to tap into this resource, you can make better decisions that are more in-tune with your higher-self. In the back of the book, John has also included a page on the energy of colors and a page on the energy centers (chakras). This is more of a book for beginners.
Each page gives good information. Here is a random example: I flipped the book open to page 110 & 111, which is "Way" number 53. Page 110 gives the "Way" and the affirmation, and a little picture of a beautiful white swan on a peaceful lake. Page 110 says, "Total Relaxation" (the Way). The affirmation follows: "Taking the time to relax is my right--my gift to myself and my spirit." Page 111 then explains the concept behind the affirmation, as such: "Relaxing the body will assist you in stilling your mind and tapping into your intuition. Find a peaceful place to sit, and take a slow breath. Close your eyes and imagine a brilliant white light entering your feet from the ground. Let the light travel up your calves, your legs, your back, your head, down your shoulders, your arms and out through your fingers. Let the light relax every part of your body. Use this technique anytime you're feeling tense or stressed." There are many "Ways" in this little book, 101 to be exact. Just a few others include: "Finding the Stillness, Energy Scanning, Gratitude, Manifesting, Strengthening Your Aura, Loving Calmness, Listening With Your Intuition, Vibrations, Synchronicity, Using Inner Guidance, and The OM Vibration. About John: John is a psychic medium, lecturer and author. He has several CDs and books available. I have found his products very helpful to me personally for meditating and tuning up my mind. You can find several of his products in my other reviews. His voice is extremely peaceful and relaxing to meditate with. John is one of many wonderful authors I have found available through Hay House. He teaches psychic development and personal healing, including the use of the chakras. Again, this book is just a pocket book of mini lessons, but I would have to give anything of John's a 5. You would probably also want to at least purchase his book "Psychic Navigator" to go with this. Psychic Navigator also includes a CD that you can really meditate with. If you don't care about meditating, and have trouble sleeping, the relaxation part of the CD will, at the very least, most likely help you sleep better. If you want mega info on psychic development, try the 4 CD set "Awakening Your Psychic Strengths". No kidding, I love his stuff. I just saw he will be lecturing on the East Coast and I can't wait. |
