Editorial Reviews

From the Author

My goal with this book is to help people who are losing passion for life. I don't mean to give them all the answers, but show them that there are others living amazing lives and -like them- this individuals were scared, rejected or unmotivated when they started.
3 years ago, I lost my job, in a very slow economy. I had no purpose in life and I didn't know what I wanted to do. Since then, I've built my own business and I love every minute of my life.
I hope this book inspires people to live. Whether you want to quit your job or not, there are many ways to spice up your life.

About the Author

Mac Miller was a zombie once. Not the videogame-kind of zombie. But the corporate world kind.
Since he graduated from College all he did in his life was to get up early in the mornings from Monday to Friday and work 10- 11 hours a day in order to be able to enjoy Saturday and half Sunday with his family and friends.
Making a good income was his best incentive until he realized he didn't actually had time to enjoy the things that he bought with the money. Then he focused on simply doing his best job.

On December 5th 2008 his life would change forever. That day he was called to Human Resources and told that he was being laid off the next week.
For a moment Mac felt he couldn't breath. The sky fell on his shoulders. However, when he walked out that building and called his family to tell them the news, something had changed. A deep feeling of relief was running through his veins.
He was not a zombie anymore. Suddenly life had become interesting, challenging. There was uncertainty in his future, sure. But at least now he felt alive.
This is the real story of Mac Miller, the author of 7 Ways to Live, Not Merely Exist. His story is not unique. Every day more and more people struggle with their comfortable yet apathetic and dull lives.
In case you're wondering, Mac didn't go back to the corporate world. He found a way to live in his own terms, doing a job he loves and helping other people to do the same thing.

4.0 out of 5 stars Get Out Of Your Rut! July 17, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Mr. Miller shares seven steps for living a more rewarding life. The common factor in each of these steps is that they will require you to break out of your routine and find the motivation within.

This ebook is well written and is a good source of inspiration. The author explains the importance of choices, self-motivation, goal setting and overcoming the fear of failure.

The author uses some case studies to illustrate the tips in this book. However, he does not really tell his own story about how he went from laid-off corporate worker to an entrepreneur. l wish Mr. Miller had shared more of his own experiences. I would like to know how he learned the lessons that he teaches in his book.

I recommend this ebook to anyone who is looking for some brief material on putting the passion back in your life. This book will get you thinking about your life and how you would like to change it. That is the first step to getting out of your rut and starting out on a new path.

This is a powerful little book full of wisdom. As one reviewer correctly puts, the author isn't trying to lecture you but rather leads you gently past the obstacles that separate us from a truly remarkable life. And five or six of these obstacles were big issues for me, I can tell you.

What I loved about this ebook were the examples of ordinary people doing extraordinary things. You see, I always thought you had to be rich or famous to live life to its fullest. In short, I made up all kinds of excuses to exist rather than to live.

My favorite chapter is the one about embracing uncertainties. The author has really succeeded in making me love the unknown. Friends are really surprised since I was always kind of afraid of the unknown, clinging to what little certainties and guarantees I had in life. Again, using real-life examples, Miller shows that, by being open to new experiences, the most wonderful things will find their way to you. This is one of the few Kindle books that I don't read and then delete -- it's a definite keeper!

5.0 out of 5 stars Am I REALLY living? June 23, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
This book speaks to me on such a personal level, it's difficult to figure out where to start. For years I've been seemingly alone in my own belief that there has to be much more to life than punching a clock and paying rent, and this book has opened my eyes to the reality that there are other like-minded individuals in the world.

By leaving our own personal comfort zone, we can begin to live a life worthy of mention, rather than simply being the robots that society has routinely prescribed for the common folk. By tackling our fears and facing uncertainty, we can embark on adventures that will help us feel alive, as opposed to just kinda of 'being here.'

For years I've dreamed of spending the summer hiking the entire length of the Appalachian Trail (from Georgia to Maine); of living life on the road, just me and my Honda Element and the open air; of pitching a canvas tent deep in the solitude of the nearest state park like a modern-day Henry David Thoreau... The list goes on and on.

This book has motivated me to stoke the embers of my dreams and pursue them with conviction and vigor...

What are your dreams? What excites you and motivates you to greet another day? What are you doing right now to meet the expectations that you are setting for yourself, so that you too may live life to the fullest? Deep stuff, huh?

3.0 out of 5 stars Inspirational, Helpful to Some May 11, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Well, having always dreamed of publishing my own book but not yet gotten around to it, I have absolutely no right or place to "knock" Mr. Miller's effort. I imagine there are readers who will study this book and find that they are in exactly the right place and time to make full use of it, and then go on to follow his advice to the letter and thank him profusely for giving them the push they needed to make it happen.

As for me, I've certainly amassed a decent collection of inspirational and self-help books. I've gained the most insight from Wayne W. Dyer and Noah St. John. This one didn't tell me much that was new, and for the most part, it seemed to repeat much of the same advice in its pages. Primarily, Mr. Miller advises the reader to overcome fear, break out of the comfort zone, and try something completely new. He specifically recommends such activities as snowboarding, hang-gliding, skydiving and traveling around the country in an RV. It could be that such "breaking-away" pursuits might actually be a catalyst for embarking upon a complete and fufilling life -- I don't know, never having tried any of these so far. The book is in my Kindle, and one day I might go back and reconsider the advice.

4.0 out of 5 stars Realistic & helpful June 6, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I like this book because it's not the tired advice "quit your job and you'll live an amazing life working from the beach". It's realistic. It assumes that not everybody can afford to quit their job, but even then, there are things you can do to improve your life.I'm going to give it 4 stars, not 5 because the author could have dug a little bit deeper, including more real life examples. Not bad overall.

5.0 out of 5 stars Inspiring.... June 7, 2012

Format:Kindle Edition
This book is inspiring. The author doesn't try to lecture you. That's refreshing. I've been trapped in routine and I know how hard it is to get every morning when there's no motivation.
