You can make it happen!, August 4, 2006
This review is from: 10 Ways to Make It Great! (Paperback)
I have the privilege of working with Phil, and I can tell you firsthand that he is exactly as he portrays himself in this book. My suggestion would be to read the entire book first and then go back to work on the action steps. Keep in mind that this is not a book; it is a workbook. Reading Phil's insights serve as a springboard for your own ideas.
I am normally a skeptic about books of this type. However, Phil writes in a manner that captures the essence of concepts that are so simple, we often overlook them. I have not changed my mind in general about these books, but this one stands out from the rest.
Take the challenge and read the book. I then encourage you to e-mail Phil and tell him what you think. Ask him for a suggestion. Ask him for a resource. He is very approachable and genuinely interesting in helping all of us reach greatness.
Life throws us all curve balls. Phil gives you a unique and insightful perspective on how to deal with this. One of the most valuable things I learned was to stop making excuses for why I cannot do things. I have the power to be proactive and make things happen, or, as Phil would say, Make it Great!

Roadmap to Greatness, June 12, 2007
This review is from: 10 Ways to Make It Great! (Paperback)
In this compact work book, the author provides a roadmap for "making it great." Tips include things like Never Stop Learning, Finish what you start, and my favorite, Work Hard Now... or Work Hard Forever!
I read through the book and then went back and completed all 22 action steps. I plan to revisit it to gauge my progress and tweak my plans as necessary.
The author has a genuine interest in helping others succeed. If the actions are followed, this book will help.

Focused, Faithful, and Fun, September 12, 2006
This review is from: 10 Ways to Make It Great! (Paperback)
Phil Gerbyshak's "10 Ways to Make It Great" is an excellent addition to anybody's business library. He's taken the best of human nature and condensed it into an easy-to-use handbook of knowledge, anecdotes, and thought-provoking exercises which can be digested over an airplane ride or over months of self-assessment, whichever the reader chooses. Gerbyshak's humble approach to life partnered with his energized quest to make things constantly better pours over into his writing. The reader cannot help but come away with a great sense of self and a renewed purpose for what to do next. This book is the cross-section of Covey's 7 Habits of Highly Effective People and Warren's Purpose-Driven Life, condensed to fit into today's schedules, yet powerful enough to pack the punch of a message that people still need to hear. Well Done!!!
