From Library Journal
Reluctantly in London to support her elder sister in her bid for society acceptance, and bored to distraction, the fiery, unconventional Lady Harriet Fareham decides to continue her long-standing work with the poor. She secretly becomes a temporary reading and deportment instructor to the young women at one of the city's more infamous brothels, the Temple of Venus, where she attracts the attention of the handsome Lord Adrian Chalfont, Marquess of Kidderham. This traditional Regency is filled with accurate, neatly interwoven period detail, charming language, and flashes of humor. Despite too many flashbacks, it is beautifully written, nicely paced, and confronts some serious social issues. Richardson (The Reluctant Heiress, Signet Regency, 1996) lives in the Boston area.
