Book Description

July 14, 2010
Eight stories tell of life's unexpected blows. They reveal weaknesses people try to hide and strengths some never knew they had. Now at the crossroads, they make fateful decisions good and bad that change their lives forever. Meet the small boy and the bully. How does the boy outwit him? Or the dying mother who hasn't seen her son in 10 years and asks the sister to find him. Was it all worth it? The stories while fiction are drawn from life, a husband accused of cheating, a ruthless tycoon who wants more money and power, a plant owner shot before a union strike, a satire where the Devil turns the tables on celebrities who think they are untouchable, how a man who loses his job finds the spark inside himself to turn his life around and the wayward son and father whose falling out ends in tragedy, These could be challenges you may face. What will you do at your crossroad? Step inside and find out.

The author writes like Hemmingway: simple and direct. Each story, like a parable, focuses on a life situation that is meaningful and relevant to any reader. I marvel at how effortlessly the stories appear to have been written.

Ordover has created a diverse collection of short stories with rich characters whom we get insights into very quickly. His writing transported me into a different era.Ordover paints pictures through words of different decades and settings and I actually felt I was there.
Each story is a unique surprise with unexpected twists...move over Ohenry!

Ordover is a terrific story teller...well written and sucheasy reading....only criticism(positive)...many of the stories end too abruptly..they could be extended into a novel themselves with alot of intrigue and anticipation
