The author writes like Hemmingway: simple and direct. Each story, like a parable, focuses on a life situation that is meaningful and relevant to any reader. I marvel at how effortlessly the stories appear to have been written.

Ordover has created a diverse collection of short stories with rich characters whom we get insights into very quickly. His writing transported me into a different era.Ordover paints pictures through words of different decades and settings and I actually felt I was there.
Each story is a unique surprise with unexpected twists...move over Ohenry!

Ordover is a terrific story teller...well written and sucheasy reading....only criticism(positive)...many of the stories end too abruptly..they could be extended into a novel themselves with alot of intrigue and anticipation

Read The Wayward Son and Other Tales by Benjamin Ordover and step out of the tinning background hum of life today. It's eight short stories strung like a mix of gemstone on a stout cord woven of the stuff of the human spirit. You can feel the triumph of courage cloaked in fear, the nag of loneliness in the midst of plenty, the bite of negligence in 50 years of marriage, the satisfaction of victory snatched from the hands of evil, the danger in playing with the devil, the timelessness of life's mistakes and successes, and more. From his photography and biography, author Ordover appears to have lived a long and productive life. Seems like he lives it with his mind and senses wide open. Good for him. Good for us---John Thompson,Knight Journalism Fellow

A great, easy read. These 8 short stories carry the reader through life situations that all can relate to and perhaps remember how they handled their personal travail. Mr. Ordover has an easy to read style that allows the reader to comfortably relate to the characters and the challenges faced. I highly recommend it !
