Book Description

I married an idiot--and so did my spouse. The word, "idiot" is derived from the Greek word meaning "common man." Aren't we all common man? In fact, there is only One who was uncommon man--Jesus Christ. Elaine W. Miller encourages couples to keep their eyes fixed on Jesus and run a marriage marathon like an idiot, but not like a fool. An idiot may stumble or fall, but a fool runs the wrong way.

We All Married Idiots teaches husbands and wives to stop concentrating on the three things you will never change in your marriage and begin focusing on the ten things you can. Then, you will esteem your mate as a gift to treasure, not as an idiot to tolerate.

Editorial Reviews

Review

I had no idea how humorous this book would be. I also had no idea how exactly right-on her insights on marriage and people were. Thank you Elaine for writing a book that will certainly change marriages and many people's lives.~Lane Jordan/ Best Selling Author/National Speaker

We All Married Idiots is like having a heart-to-heart with a dear friend who wants you to succeed at what you care most about: your marriage. Laugh, pray, and "amen" your way through this delightful and soul nournishing gift from the Father's heart.~Jeanette Levellie, Author/Speaker

Elaine wrote a book that reaches into the deep places of the soul that challenges and convicts. I laughed, I cried, I raved, and I finally submitted to the truth that God knows what's best for my marriage.~Jody Zilske, English Professor, Writer, Speaker.

With gentle wit, humor and wisdom, Elaine points out where so many of us go wrong in a marriage, the ways we tear down with our hands what God means to be built up for His glory and our good.~Mary Schneider, freelance writer

Elaine W. Miller is a gifted communicator. We All Married Idiots will have you rolling on the floor laughing while being challenged toward a Christ-centered marriage. Each chapter provides fodder for discussion, self-examination, and personal growth. Buy one for yourself and additional copies to give away!~Carol Kent, Speaker and Author

5.0 out of 5 stars A must-read for any marriage April 10, 2012
Format:Paperback
I can't begin to express how much I love this book. Elaine's sense of fun comes through clearly in each page, along with the wisdom and eternal Truths every marriage needs to succeed.

While this book has a Christian worldview, I found it extremely accessible and practical. As the wife of a non-believer, I am hyper vigilant against letting "Christianese" slip in to my conversations. I can always tell when I'm using it- Ken rolls his eyes and tunes out anything I have to say. The struggle to communicate on a level he can understand, not just intellectually, but on a heart level, has made me far more aware of the roots of my own beliefs and the dangers of just parroting "Christian beliefs" without first searching my own heart.

Elaine's vocabulary is inclusive and loving, reaching out to all hearts, men and women alike. She models a loving marriage through the mishaps of her own journey, and shares what it takes to run the race well.

My life, and my marriage, have been blessed by this book. I know it will bless many others as well.

-Mary Schneider

2.0 out of 5 stars Not quite what I expected from the blurb November 25, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
Christian based marriage couseling book. Very good if that's what I was looking for, but not as what I was lead to believe it was, a light- hearted look at marriage.
