Dreams for a Small Planet,
By spirit explorer (Boston, MA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: We Are the Burning Fire: Songs from a Small Planet (Audio CD)
Though released in the year 2000, I am surprised to find myself writing the first review for this lovely album of world music! U.K. composer Howard Goodall ("Choral Works", "Organ Works", theme from "Black Adder") has put together a beautiful collection of folk songs gathered from around the world. The performance was recorded by Goodall's familiar and exquisite Christ Church Cathedral Choir of Oxford and features soprano Henry Bennett. Other of Goodall's recordings are primarily of his own sacred music (also well worth buying), but the effect of having the Christ Church Choir perform these ethnic folk melodies is dreamy and verging on its own kind of religious experience.
