As a musician, this show has to be one of my favorites. Not only do the right people win and go home each week --mostly because naive audiences aren't voting-- but the talent it PHENOMENAL. This show might be on the boring side for those only looking to hear American Idol type talent and cheesy back stories but these are some insane song writers and singers of all genres. If you understand music and/or you are that kind of person who can watch a video of someone singing on replay because it gives you the goosebumps every time, this show is for you.

This was pretty boring. I watched only one episode even though I LOVE reality tv shows and also industries like the music business. This show was too low budget, like only 12 contestants or less I think which seemed odd at first and then watching more they (they're all young almost all in their 20's) they are so over the top it's so predictable, a very prominent story line, etc. look at the credits at the of a show and look for "story assistant" or "the judges may have consulted with the producers of the show in determining their decision". Too fake, too boring, too over the top youngins who think they are so COMPLETELY the.... "IT" songwriter to put it politely. I read an article maybe 10 years ago about reality TV shows I think by Mark Burnett who created tons of TV shows and is still, Survivor, The Amazing Race, The Apprentice which people couldn't get enough of when it came out and now, Monday and Tuesday nights, The Voice, Wednesday night before "Impossible Mission" on ABC and Friday night Shark Tank. The article said the keys to a good reality TV show is CREATEATIVITY, CASTING and something else I think maybe CONCEPT. This show suffers in the casting department. Producers took advantage of young wet behind the ears 20yr olds who don't know better and have huge ego's.

I felt this show gave great insight in what it takes to be a songwriter. All the tasks given to the contestants are very real world situations for a song writer. From being collaborative or working alone, to being able to write a chorus from any word or situation with limited time. You see the crearion of a song from begining to end. I thought most of the songwriters who participated did very well with their tunes and I'm happy that Sonye won the competition. She was writing great lyrics and doesn't even play an instrument. I'm always amazed by songwriters who don't play an instrument.

This show should really connect with songwriters as they know the type of difficulties that may arise when writing a song.
