5.0 out of 5 stars The Lox is HOT!!!
I don't care what anyone says, The Lox are one of the best trios in the rap game today. Every single one of them, whether it be Shiek, Styles or Kiss, bring the heat on every verse on every track, and with Swizz Beatz on the production side of things, you got one dope album!!! If you ask me, Shiek, Kiss and Styles are the best in the Ruff Ryders clique. What sets them...

3.0 out of 5 stars O.K.
These guys hollard about getting off Bad Boy and they spit this mediocore album. I expected a lot more hearing how Puffy orcastrated the Lox's style and they finally getting off the label. The album drags after the "Wild Out". The album starts to sound redundant.

If you ask me, Shiek, Kiss and Styles are the best in the Ruff Ryders clique. What sets them apart from other rap groups is that they all have their own unique styles (no pun intended). Each of them come hard and it just seems like they all put a lot of effort into this album, and it pays off because you don't have to skip tracks because every track is tight. The beats on this album are also some of the tightest around. Don't listen to other people who diss The Lox just because of their previous relations with Puffy. Go buy this album today if you already don't have it. Trust me, you won't be disappointed...

4.0 out of 5 stars L.O.X.- We are the Streets, November 30, 2002
This review is from: We Are the Streets (Audio CD)
The Lox (Jadakiss, Styles, Sheek) second album "We are the Streets" is another nice album from hiphops hottest trio. 2000 saw the Lox leave Bad Boy Entertainment and join The Ruff Ryders, and it was a good move. Executive Production comes from Dee & Waah with track production from Swizz Beats, P.K., DJ Premier and Timbaland. Guest Appearances are limited to Kasino, Drag-on, Swizz Beats and Eve. After a funny introduction, album starts strong with "F*** You", followed by "Can I live" feat. Kasino. "Wild Out" is the lead single for the album (Swizz Beats), and has the Lox spitting nice lyrics, while professing loyalty to there new crew. My favourite track is "Regonize" which is laced with ill beats courtesy of DJ Premier, Jada comes out really strong with lines likes "Too hard for MTV, not Black enough for BET", Sheek and Styles follow through with ill lines. "Yall f***** up Now" and "U told me" feat. Eve follow and are nice banging tracks, with sick beats courtesy of Swizz. "Ryde or Die B****" is an upbeat track (Timbaland), has the Lox talking about the ladies. Album ends with track that shares title name, and has the Lox, giving their oath of loyalty to Ruff Ryders while putting Bad Boy down a bit. One year later, Jada and Styles have dropped banging solo albums, and Sheek has his solo on the way, things are definetly looking up for one of hiphops nicest groups. Production on this album was good, Swizz beats does well on beats, and Premiers touch is golden. "We are the Streets" shows that the Lox have made alot of progression from "Money, Power & Respect", and leaves you looking forward to there next album.

Tight. The whole album. T-I-G-H-T. Only downside is that DMX could have delivered PHAT vocals on this album. But it can hold itself down, no frontin'

1999 was a great year for the Lox. The whole crew proved they were all nasty on this one. The beats were sizzling, and the content as hard as concrete.Their solo albums were great, but this collabo album took the cake.

I am a huge Ruff Ryder fan and this album convinced me even more. Jadakiss, Styles, and Sheek put out a smash album that has harcore lyrics, great beats and most importantly, every track is worth a listen.
Track Listing:

5.Breathe Easy-5/5 Great song with one TIGHT ASS beat and hot lyrics(Jadakiss has the best verse)
6.Felony N&!#@#-4/5 Altough it's short it's still a tight track where Styles shows his potential as a solo artist.
7.Wildout-5/5 What more can I say? Classic Hook, Memorable verses,Great song!
8.Blood Pressure-5/5 HOT ASS Track with a monster beat!! Jadakiss prove that he's a force to be reckoned with and is here to stay.
9.Recognize-5/5 Classic DJ Premier Beat and memorable Sheek Louch Verse
11.Y'all F!@#ed UP Now-4.5/5 Hot track
12.Sceam L.O.X.-4.5/5 Memorable verses with a funny intro
13.U Told Me-4.5/5 Great song with a weird beat
15.Ryde or Die B%$@!-4.5/5 Only commercial song on this album with unforgettable verses and a nice beat by Timbaland
16.Bring It On- 3.5/5 good song with funny and catchy lyrics.(Sheek is not as godd as kiss and Styles on the solo tip)
17.If You Know-4.5/5 Tight track with hot lyrics
18.We Are the Streets-5/5 Hot track dissin Puff. Hot lyrics and very cool beat.
Overall, We Are The Streets is a great album that proves artists do not have to go mainstream to sell(as this album was certified Platinum.)I recommend this album if you are a true hip hop head like myself. This is definitely a must-have for any LOX/Ruff Ryder/D-Block fan!!

Tha Realest (Greensburg, PA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: We Are the Streets (Audio CD)
After their groundbreaking debut, "Money, Power, and Respect" dropped in 1998, the L.O.X. left Bad Boy Records. They the signed with Ruff Ryders and released their sophomore effort, "We Are the Streets" in 2000.

1. Intro (Skit)

2. F*** You - Not really feeling the beat, everyone spits pretty nice, hook is pretty good as well - 3.5/5

3. Can I Live (Featuring Kasino) - Good beat, everyone spits good, hook is pretty good - 4/5

4. Build for Bodies (Skit)

5. Breathe Easy - Good beat, everyone spits good, hook is good - 4.5/5

6. Felony N***** - Good beat, Styles rips it on this solo track, hook is good....song fades out and a skit plays for the last 30 seconds - 4/5

7. Wild Out - Good beat, everyone spits good, hook is good at first but gets really annoying by the end of the track...song fades out then a skit plays for the last 30 seconds again - 3.5/5

8. Blood Pressure - Good beat, Jada rips this solo track, hook is good - 4.5/5

9. Recognize - Great beat, everyone spits great, hook is pretty good - 4.5/5

10. Rape'n U Records (Skit)

11. Y'all F***** Up Now - Great beat, everyone rips it, hook is good - 4.5/5

12. Scream L.O.X. - Great beat, everyone rips it, hook is great - 5/5

13. U Told Me (Featuring Eve) - Good beat, everyone spits good, Eve sings a great hook - 4/5

14. Brains...(Take: 1) (Skit)

15. Ryde or Die, B**** (Featuring Drag-On & Eve) - Great beat, Jada, Styles, and Sheek all spit good, Timbaland and Eve spit an alright hook...don't know what Drag-One does on this track - 3.5/5

16. Bring It On - Good beat, Sheek spits pretty good on his solo track, hook is weak...song fades out and a skit plays for the last 15 seconds - 3.5/5

17. If You Know (Featuring Swizz Beatz, Drag-On, & Eve) - Good beat, everyone spits back and forth throughout the verses...very interesting track, hook is pretty good - 4/5

18. We Are the Streets - Good beat, everyone rips it, hook is good - 4.5/5

Overall: 57.5 /70

4 Stars

This is another solid effort from the L.O.X.. Some of the beats were weak and some tracks had those annoying skits at the end to make them longer. They really improved their hooks this time around compared to their last album. Overall it's better than "Money, Power, & Respect" but still needed a little work, it's still an enjoyable album though.
