Mariah I ain't mad @ ya sweetie (3.5 stars),
By Henry Cooper ""Still One Me"" (Atlanta, GA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: We Belong Together (Audio CD)
This song ain't bad like I said. Mariah is sure making it from the top w/ her latest hit "We Belong Together" produced by my man Mr. Jermaine Dupri, a native from ATL. This song kinda reminds of me of when I was goin' thru sum hard times and sum trials and tribulations but don't have to give u the whole info on that. It sure has the same beats and styles off from the ATL trio Luda, Lil' Jon, Usher or Ur-sher hit "Lovers and Friends". One thing I like is when she builts up a lil' bit and how she's goin back renew. I previously gave her album 1 shot a minute ago but had on my own I wasn't gonna buy it or I wasn't expecting this 'cuz this gonna flop like "Glitter" or "Charmbracelet". Yeah Charmbracelet (2002), was the one I wasn't expecting it wasn't on my interest but a no-brainer. But Glitter it was aight, seen it numerous times but bought to get it pretty soon both on DVD and VHS perhaps. Also luvs when he takes a part of a song from Bobby Womacks "If U Think u're Lonely Now" on the 2nd verse or half of the song and kinda gets me in the mood. My friend MisterMaxxx saids this takes her back to the time when Fantasy became a blockbuster smash, I mean an INCREDIBLE album in 1995. I was hoping I have that ASAP. But can't go wrong on Mariah. She's gonna still remain on top and still remain the same. I just borrow her album "Emancipation of Mimi" from one of my cousins who saids I may give it a shot and then I'll bring it back to her once I'm done. Ok long story short, good luck Mariah and ya'll fans or non-fans need to support this girl. She's still doin big. This is her 16th #1 hit and her first since '99.

Mariah belongs to the charts,

This review is from: We Belong Together (Audio CD)
With We Belong Together, Mariah finally recovers the lost ground she's had with Glitter and Charmbracelet. For the first time in over 6 years, she scores her a new #1 hit and album on Billboard, giving her a 16th #1 hit, a record that no one has been able to match in the US. And not to mention her first multi-platinum record too in that timespan.
While We Belong Together isn't anything of a breakthrough in terms of a Mariah song, it does show that with the right song, the once embattled but now emancipated star could do no wrong. In its orginal form, the song produced by rumored lover Jermaine Dupri, is a simple and smooth R&B number with a harmonized groove, matched by a surprisingly subdued Mariah vocally, which couldn't be better for the singer has learned that not all songs need the typical vocal acrobats of a five-octave range. In the end, the result is sweeter than ever and proves much a hit with everyone. It's a return to form, the pre-hiphop, early-90's good-to-nature Mariah. This CD is backed with an instrumental version of the song for your karaoke pleasures, but the UK CD2 single has some very good remixes by Peter Rahoufer and Atlantic Soul. And in a long time, Mariah deserves to be on top again.

Remixes are hugely disappointing,

Here you have the #1 U.S. pop single of 2005 and one of Mariah's finest vocal performances in years. This song had such the potential to be a huge club anthem - the anthem of the year really, but instead turns out to be a huge letdown. Instead Madonna's "Hung Up" and Pussycat Dolls' "Don't Cha" will end up as the club anthems of the year (4 weeks and 3 weeks at #1 on the Billboard dance chart respectively).
Peter Rauhofer's Reconstruction Mix of "We Belong Together" has to rank as one of his most disappointing mixes ever. The beats are bland and repetitive and Mariah's vocals are suppressed to the point that you can't believe this is supposed to be one of the best tracks of the year. Certainly not a "hands in the air" type of anthem. This is the type of mix that makes people leave the dance floor in search of a drink. The Atlantic Soul Mixes are not very club worthy either. Rauhofer's Reconstruction Mix Part 2 (not available on CD anywhere) is slightly better but even it is a letdown. "We Belong Together" has certainly gotten enough exposure this year through tons of airplay (#1 radio airplay track of the year), MTV, and otherwise. We shouldn't have had to suffer through this horrible set of remixes. Please don't waste your money on this single.

This is one of the best songs MC has ever released. So lets be honest to give her the right amount of stars for this song. She deserves at least 5 stars for this great song. The lyrics are so super. I can't say anything bad about this song, 'cause it's just too good. Look at the charts people!!
People who give this song 1 star are just wrong.

Catchy Mellow Joint.reminds of 1995 Mariah,
This review is from: We Belong Together (Audio CD)
this is a Catchy Joint by Mariah though it reminds of Her Stuff during 1995.Her voice sounds cool.I dig how She quotes Bobby Womack's "If you think your Lonely now"&Babyface's Former Band the Deele on 'Two Occasions". in fact 'We Belong Together" reminds me of a Babyface type of slow Jam.

I have to admit being a club music fan as well. The remixes for this marathon chart busting single was a very disappointing turnout for such a huge song that dominated the charts for the spring and summer of last year 2005 and is still being played non-stop on radios across the world. Even here in Malaysia and no kidding about that. I can assure of that. This song as made her welcomed back to the music scene and which was partly the reason why she is on TV so much nowdays still releasing singles from her current platinum version of her album. "We Belong Together's remixes really sunk down the name of the song. Except for the Reconstuction club mix part 2 not available on any CD format. This is slightly worthy but still lacks that club wack sound that it needs so much. The soul Atlantic remixes didn't help either but they were alright to listen to but not enough to enjoy grooving to. C'mon people where is your sense of club music style. The clubs are willing to play the song. But the club versions stink to the point where only the remix and the original version are only excepted. Shame on you remixers. You should know better than to disrespect club goers who wanna enjoy this song. Take a cake people and get the single which only has the original verison along with the remix which saves the song from disaster people out there. The club versions are not worth your time and money to waste upon.

We Belong Together is one Mariah's best songs ever. It goes to show you can sing a ballad without having to shout your dang face off the entire way. She delivers a smooth r&b vocal on this track. It's good to hear her lower toned vocals for a change instead of all the whispering and high notes.

Lacking,
This review is from: We Belong Together (Audio CD)
First impressions are often very telling and in this case mine wasn't far off the mark. Though the first three seconds or so are simply a few high notes on a piano, Mariah apparently couldn't resist throwing in a few unintelligible "uhoooooohoohohhh"s- to get us in the mood I suppose. Then in comes the lackluster beat, if you can call it that. So far, nothing too thrilling. Just some unimportant whispers and an uninspiring beat to start off this masterpiece.
I guess I'll ignore the improper grammar simply because it's song lyrics and song lyrics deserve some poetic license, so to speak. Now I'm getting into the meat of the song and I must say that in this case, that meat is sliced so thin that you can clearly see right through it. If I didn't get the message from the murmur of the words "sweet love," certainly from the first few lines I conclude that this is a love song of sorts. Now there's nothing quite like a wonderful love song, but there's nothing quite like a truly crappy one either. I think we know which category this song falls into. Her voice never was that horrible and even in this song it's not so bad; that is until she begins her attempt to actually sing and what comes out is a three minute, twenty second horror. The lyrics are completely trite and unoriginal- they're about some relationship in which the girl whines the whole time about how "Oh, what I wouldn't give to have you lying by my side right here, cause baby when you left I lost a part of me. It's still so hard to believe. Come back baby, please cause we belong together...There ain't nobody better. Oh, baby baby, we belong together." It's pathetic. However, I feel I must give Mariah due credit for capturing the mood of the song perfectly with her whines and whispers and also for saving the best- desperate screeching and high-pitched whining- for last.

This Song Makes Me Throw Up,
By Fish Cheeks (In Your Dreams) - See all my reviews

I never thought I'd see the day when I would hear a Mariah Carey song on the radio and turn it off. I used to be Mariah's #1 Fan, but now I can't put up with her anymore. "We Belong Together" has to be the worse song of 2005. The song is just a bunch of whining and towards the end that's when Mariah starts her squealing and shrieking. Annoying! Did you see the video for this song? Hasn't that theme already been done a million times before? Jon Secada used it for his "If You Go" video back in the early 1990s. And just because the song mentions Babyface and The Deele ("Two Occassions") and Bobby Womack ("If You Think You're Lonely Now") that doesn't make the song deep. Most of you probably don't even know who Bobby Womack and The Deele are. Anyway, this song sucks.
