One thing I can say about DJ Khaled's music is whether you like him or not, 9/10 times, whenever you hear a song he's produced, your gonna have some type of reaction to it. Khaled makes what I call "Adrenaline Music" and as the name implies, it tends to bring that high energy that you'd find in any anthem in hip hop. DJ Khaled most definitely strives to make anthems on this CD.

(Side Note: I'm very aware that DJ Khaled did NOT produce this entire album, but rather co-produced with many other producers, but he has executive producer credit on the album and for the sake of simplifying this review, I'll be just saying its "his" work. Just a heads up)

We The Best Forever is by no means the epitome of lyrical creativity, and it most likely wont win any awards, but its a good, solid CD. Just take it for what it is and you wont really be disapointed.

"Im On One feat. Drake, Rick Ross & Lil Wayne"

One of the singles, and a pretty dope track. Nothing really out of the ordinary here; Drake does his usual singing/rapping style on his verse and the chorus, Ross grunts his way through a verse, and Wayne sounds high while dispensing semi-clever similies and punchlines. The beat and catchy hook really carries this track past likable and into dopeness territory. 5/5

"Welcome To My Hood feat. Rick Ross, Lil Wayne, Plies, & T-Pain"

Another single, and probably the most popular. This is basically "I'm So Hood, 2011" with most of the same people, same theme, and a strangely similar beat. Its still pretty hot though, and I'd say this one is better then "I'm So Hood". Wayne and Ross did their thing and T-Pain carries the song with the hook, but Plies kinda brings it down the moment he speaks. 4/5

"Money feat.... Ludacris & Jeezy"

This was decent at best, most definitely a conventional "southern" sound to it. The subject matter is pretty played out, so the most redeeming part of this track is Luda's wordplay in his verse, which is actually pretty good (though he's done way better), and Jeezy's verse was pretty weak as usual. Beat also seemed very half hearted. 2/5

"I'm Thuggin feat. Waka Flocka Flame & Ace Hood"

Easily The weakest track. If your a Waka fan, than you probably will like this, but personally I cant get into it. The beat and hook carry most of the tracks on this CD, but unfortunately both fail pretty badly. Waka's repetativeness on the hook "I'm thuggin! I'm thuggin" really gets old after the first 3 times he says it, and the beat is just lame and uninspired. Ace Hood was ok, but nothing special about his verse either. 1/5

"It Aint Over Till Its Over feat. Fabolus, Mary J Blige, & Jadakiss"

A very solid Hip Hop track, with soulful production and vocals by Mary J Blige. A nice feel-good track about struggle and perseverance, which provides a nice change of pace in the fairly monotonous track line up. Fab, Jada and Mary all did their thing, making it a highlight of the album. 5/5

"Legendary feat. Chris Brown, Keyshia Cole & Ne-Yo"

Another great feel good song, this time exclusively R&B. Although Khaled seems to be sticking to the whole "persevere and be strong" theme on this track, its presentation by way of singers instead of rappers is a notable and it works very well. The overall production is outstanding, and all three artists really seem to put their foot in it to make the best sound. With Chris Brown taking the lead vocals and Keyshia and Ne-Yo basically doing heavy back up melody, this becomes another highlight and a personal favorite. 5/5

"Sleep When I'm Done feat. Busta Rhymes, The Game & Cee-Lo"

Nothing really special on this track, but still a good song nontheless. Busta and Game throw down decent verses addressing haters and annonymous rappers that stand in their way, while Cee-Lo graces the track with soulful yet auto tuned melodies and meaningful lyrics and a well made beat for a perfect backdrop. 5/5

"Cant Stop feat. Birdman & T-Pain"

I'm guessing this is pretty much an interlude, given the time (2:50). If you've heard one verse from Birdman on any song, you've pretty much heard this verse too. Nothing different or special, same money talk, same boss mentality talk. T-Pain however, carries this song rather well, lyrically and singing. T-Pain literally saves this track and makes it listenable. 3/5

"Future feat. Big Sean, Vado, Meek Millie, Wale & Ace Hood"

The only other contender for weakest track on this CD. Same ol same here; swag talk, money talk, etc. Big Sean definitely stands out most in this mass of rappers, with Wale a fair second, but really the rest seem to just be taking up space on the song. Couple weak rappers with a weak beat, this easily gets skipped. 2/5

"My Life feat. Akon & B.o.B"

Personally I didnt know how this was going to sound before I heard it, since these two artists sound very different seperately, but Khaled really put together something great with this collab. Akon's meaningful vocals supported by B.o.B's fitting rap verse speak the thoughts about living famous and how its not all its cracked up to be. My only gripe with this song is that I wish B.o.B would have done a second verse. Good beat, good performances from Akon and B.o.B, great track. 5/5

"A Million Lights feat. Tyga, Corey Gunz, Mack Maine, Jae Millz and Kevin Rudolph"

Not a bad track, but really nothing special. Lyrically this song is decent at best, but the up-beat, feel good production saves it from being skipped all together. Frankly, if they had left off two of these guys (doesnt matter who) on here then it would have been better, because its honeslty too long. I found myself wondering when the song was going to end by the beginning of the third verse, and the worst part is that they put the best one last (Corey Gunz). While I understand why they probably did it that way, the weak verses before his might make many skip the track. I gotta be in the mood to hear this one. 3.5/5

"Welcome To My Hood Remix feat. Ludacris, Busta Rhymes, T-Pain, Twista, Birdman & VA"
Again, similarly to "Im So Hood," this hood anthem gets a big ol posse remix to it. Personally, I think Luda and Busta should have made the cut on the original, but thats just me. Luda, Busta and T-Pain (who raps in auto tune melody) absolutely destroy their verses in this song with the speed rapping, with Twista fulfilling his usual role of outspitting anyone else speed wise. After Twista's verse ends though, the track just seems to drag on with Birdman and whoever VA is. Clocking in at 7 minutes and 11 seconds, this IS the longest track and really, it should have been cut right after Twisa. 4/5 (lost a point for being too long)

So bottom line: We The Best Forever is a solid album full of adrenaline pumping tracks. Not very mentally stimulating, but theres some really good music on here to be enjoyed for what it is. 4/5 Read more ›

Well, first of all...Khaled might be the most hated guy in the entire United States. That's because people are wondering what keeps this guy in the game? People ask if he's doing anything but screaming 'We The Best' all over every track? Okay, beside screaming his annoying adlibs he pushes Ace Hood's career, which is really a great thing because Ace is undoubtedly one of the top 5 young rappers around (check out his new album Blood, Sweat & Tears which will be released on August 9th). Khaled doesn't produce tracks, all he does is co-produce and co-write. (Correct me if I'm wrong, but did he produce at least one track on his own in his whole career?) He is reuniting the hip hop game every year and then, who would've guessed, he releases an album. On his 4th LP "We The Best Forever" we are confronted with the usual suspects such as Lil Wayne, Birdman, Rick Ross, Plies, T-Pain, Akon, Jeezy and Busta Rhymes amongst others. Production is perfectly handled by Noah '40' Shebib & T-Minus, The Renegades, Lex Luger, Boi-1da, The Runners, Danja and Infinity. I guess you're wondering, how is the album though?

The CD starts with "I'm On One" which currently is all over the place. The track features Drake, Rick Ross and Lil Wayne. Drake definitely went the hardest but Ross and Wayne are delivering as well. Rick Ross is on a mission and Lil Wayne gets his Weezy on.....that should be enough said, they deliver on tracks like this every time. "Welcome To My Hood", which is the 1st single of the album contains guest appereances by T-Pain, Plies and again Rick Ross and Lil Wayne. You see T-Pain on the track along with some rap guys, so you know Pain's on the hook.... Rozay who momentarily kills every track shines on this one but nonetheless does Plies (dope verse) and Lil Weezy. Lex Luger created "Money" and "I'm Thuggin". "Money" features Young Jeezy and Ludacris and the beat combined with the hot rap verses is so undeniably hard so you gotta like it. "I'm Thuggin" sounds like a Flockaveli leftover, so you know there's Waka Flocka on it along with Ace Hood. Flocka...you know what Flocka does, he tries to murder every track with his energy and Bricksquad adlibs because he has NO flow. But Flockaveli was a dope album so you can guess this track is decent as well. Khaled's protégé Ace Hood does his best to let this one be more that just average. "It Ain't Over Til It's Over" features RnB/Soul goddess Mary J. Blige along with the NY rappers Fabolous and Jadakiss. Fab who is working on his new album and Jada who just released that I Love You: A Dedication to My Fans tape (go and get that if you can - it's straight!) are hot right now so you know they put some real New York flavour on this one. Mary J's hook is proverbial off the hook. Keyshia Cole, NeYo and Chris Brown are featured on "Legendary", which is way distant to that. Khaled did a radio interview to promote the album and he was highlighting this track several times but the result is at most average. It's still a good track but just nothing really special, if you know what I mean? While we're talking about highlighting something, Cee-Lo Green is featured on "Sleep When I'm Gone". He does the hook work here and you know this one is going to be one of the best tracks on the CD because everything featuring Cee-Lo is great. Beside him there's Game and Busta Rhymes on the song and especially The Game shows what he is able to do, he sounds very motivated. This song is flat-out crazy.

Birdman and T-Pain define their positions on "Can't Stop" which is a decent track. Baby is at his best, he kinda has a very casual flow on this one (which is a good thing, he does not sound helpless here). Don't get me wrong, Birdman always had that laid back flow but he sounds disoriented from time to time. Teddy Pain delivers on the hook. T-Pain always delivers when he does hook work because that's where he's at his best. I don't remember he has done one hook in the last few years which was not catchy or thrilling. The following track "Future" contains appereances by the youngsters including the MMG artists Meek Mill and Wale (I repeat they are on a mission.....worldwide takeover), Big Sean, Ace Hood and Vado. As you hear those five names you know it's not if they will go hard, it's who will go the hardest! I guess "Future" is along with "I'm On One" and "Sleep When I'm Gone" the third one in the top 3 of the album. "My Life" features Akon and B.o.B. I really like the effort of Bobby Ray and although I am not a convinced Akon supporter I have to admit that he also gets his shine on this one. It's a feel good track which also makes you thoughtful. Khaled's YMCM labelmates Mack Maine, Tyga, Cory Gunz, Jae Millz and Kevin Rudolf are starred on "A Million Lights". It's always the same with those Young Money collabos, the tracks are decent but the artists are not able to arrange the song in a interesting way, if that makes sense? Tyga and Cory Gunz go hard, Millz and Maine are just what I explained and Kevin Rudolf just has got no talent (If you had to put a singer of the crew on this, why didn't you at least take Jay Sean or Shanell?) The final track on the LP is the official "Welcome To My Hood Remix" which features almost the entire business. You meet the common fellas such as T-Pain, Ludacris, Busta Rhymes, Birdman, Ace Hood (who went the hardest on this RMX), Fat Joe, Jadakiss, Game and Waka Flocka but there's also guest appereances by Twista, Jamaica's own Mavado and Bun B...oh hold up, how could I forget, there's also a rap verse by Khaled himself. Khaled please stop this, I don't wanna hear you rapping for the rest of my life. The remix is straight but in the end it's a bit too long. The deluxe edition also contains a track called "Self Paid" which features Rox & Rick Ross, which I haven't heard yet along with the "Rock N Roll Remix" and "Bottles & Rockin J's" which are both decent tracks but nothing remindable.

The résumé is that this is probably the best Khaled album up to date. It's better than We the Best and way better than Victory. Yea you can say, of course this is his best work because it's his first major label release but that's how it is to me. I like how every artist gets his shine because everyone is exactly where he fits in the most. It doesn't sound forced, if that makes sense. So if you're a Khaled supporter, this album is a must buy, if you wanna give him a chance, do it. The album as a whole won't let you down, provided that you can look over the 'We The Best' and 'I'm For Real About This Ish' screaming. That's how Khaled is and he ain't gon' change. Now mind you I'm a HUGE Khaled fan.. Smh - When you see that the first track is "I'm On One" & then its followed by "Welcome to My Hood" you're thinking to yourself, "Ok that's definitely what's up, they're starting out the c.d. with two radio bangers so the rest of the album has to, AT THE LEAST be as good or closeto those two tracks. Wrong. Add "Money" and the Mary J. song "It Ain't Over" and that's basically it. The rest of the album is average at best; It gets a C- in my opinion. You want to hear a good album? WATCH THE THRONE is damn near flawless.. That thing gets 4 & 1/2 stars without thinking twice about it. It's been in my deck since its release AND HAS NOT MOVED.

Not all the songs are that great but I'm On One, I'm Thuggin', Welcome 2 My Hood, and Welcome 2 My Hood Remix go straight HAM . . Khaled may suck as a person but those 4 songs are straight amazing . . and I will always listen to them. Check them out and listen to some real music . . cause they will get you crunked up whether you drinkin' Gin or sittin' there sober. Ayee

I love the beats this guys makes, but damn is his voice annoying with that "We the Best!" chant he's been saying since day 1.

There are about 3 good songs on the entire album, everything else is mediocre at best. I would not recommend this CD to anybody. Sorry.
