5.0 out of 5 stars the best bachata album I have heard.....
I was first drawn to this album because of Aventura's stirring, sexy and beautiful "Obsesion" (the first single on the CD). These four Dominicanos, based out of New York City, have gorgeous voices, mix the sounds of R&B and traditional Dominican bachata.

For those of you who don't know about bachata, I suggest you definitely give it a listen. For me, it...

2.0 out of 5 stars Obsessed with seeking good music? U won't find it here.
I have just purchased Frankie J's "The One" Album, with the newest cover of Obesession (No Es Amor), and i was pretty appalled by 3rd Wish's cover of the same song, so whilst browsing around Amazon, i found some positive comments made regarding the original, and some criticism of Frankie's cover.

So being the positive person that i am, i decided to listen to...

5.0 out of 5 stars the best bachata album I have heard....., December 31, 2004
This review is from: We Broke the Rules (Audio CD)
I was first drawn to this album because of Aventura's stirring, sexy and beautiful "Obsesion" (the first single on the CD). These four Dominicanos, based out of New York City, have gorgeous voices, mix the sounds of R&B and traditional Dominican bachata.

For those of you who don't know about bachata, I suggest you definitely give it a listen. For me, it is best described as the 1,2,3 rhythm of cumbia (a type of dance music that comes from Colombia and Mexico) with a "bounce." This is definitely a type of music to be danced with someone you love. So romantic!

Anyway, back to the album.....All of these songs are fabulous! You hear the wonderful traditional instruments of Domincan Republic, like the guiro (a percussion instrument) and the sweet rhythms of four men totally in touch with the beauty of their culture's music. You can hear that on "Yo Creo" (track #2), "Todavia Me Amas," "Perdi El Control," and the other songs. Also, they do a Spanish remake of "Gone" by Justin Timberlake. Their version is far better......The Spanish version makes it sound so much better!

Buy this album!!!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars THE BEST, October 7, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: We Broke the Rules (Audio CD)
This has got to be the best bachata album I have purchased in years. This group is going to make it, I cannot imagine that they won't. Their style is unique, I have this CD playing non stop in my car, the lyrics are from the heart, the voices are angelic. I even have my husband who you cannot pay to listen to latin music, especially bachata! asking me to play this CD while we are home. I am so proud of them and I hope that everyone takes the opportunity to listen and appreciate bachata, for what it is, our "down home" music. So grab yourself a glass of wine, play the CD and go down memory lane, when love gave you all those warm and fuzzy feelings that made you smile.

5.0 out of 5 stars Maravilloso!!!!!, September 18, 2002

Aventura is going to make bachata popular with this album! The combination of bachata with R&B and pop in these catchy tunes is interesting, fascinating and...well...wonderful! Maravilloso! Also the use of "Spanglish" spices things up.
"We broke the rules" is playing nonstop on my cd-player - it just gets better and better. I play this album to all of my friends to make them share my love for bachata. So far it's working...

5.0 out of 5 stars worth it!, January 6, 2005

This review is from: We Broke the Rules (Audio CD)
This album is worth it for the song "Obsesion" alone. I know I'm late to jump on the bandwagon but I heard the song "Obsesion" for the first time (and some of the rest of the album) while in vacation in Mexico last week. I speak only English (unfortunately) but really appreciate the sound of Latin music and the language. Even though I had no idea what they were saying, I knew I HAD to get the song after the very first time I heard it. It was so good, it stirred me from my nap (I swear!) and it oozed romance, rhythym and exotic lush places in my mind. The voice of the lead male singer is wonderful and the voice of the female singer is even more irresistible. Great beat as well--not overly produced or loud, but simply memorable and catchy. One of my favorite "new" songs and one that I'll recommend and enjoy for a long time.

5.0 out of 5 stars great... really, really!!!, June 19, 2004
This review is from: We Broke the Rules (Audio CD)
Even I don't understand spanish yet, this is great music. I love whole album, but as the favourite songs I could mention "Gone", "Mi Puerto Rico" and "9: 15 Nueve y Quince". To "Obsesion" I had listened to much to say it still sounds too exciting :)) Now I'm looking forward for getting some new musics like that and suggest the ones who hadn't heard this - DO IT!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Generation Next...De Verdad!!!, October 13, 2002

This review is from: We Broke the Rules (Audio CD)
Aventura started as 'Los Tenallers, but has grown ever since. 'We Broke the Rules' has transcended the group into the elite status of bachateros with 10 songs filled with tremendous production and great lyrics.

I had an advance copy of "Obseccion" and took it to Dominican Republic, and people were not into the song yet. I told them, "This will be the Bang-Out of the Summer". Indeed it has.

Unbelievably, all of the tracks are phat. I personally like '9:15' and 'Obseccion-Remix'. However, the only song that is iffy is 'Cura' from , I think NSync, and it's still phat.

Hopefully, Romeo, leader of the group, doesn't go into solo status. The group is going great into a new adventure...AVENTURA!

5.0 out of 5 stars Lo Mejor(The best), October 4, 2002
This review is from: We Broke the Rules (Audio CD)
Without a doubt, these guys had given the genre known as Bachata the touch it needed to make it an international musical style that everyone can enjoy.Songs like "Obsecion","No me enseñaste","Obsecion English Remix" among others, are an example of the modernized new style these guys had brought to us.With a mix of Bachata,Salsa,Pop,and R&B,everyone can enjoy dancing or just listening to the music.

This young group, unlike the others bachata mucisians, had put so much feeling into their lyrics by presenting real life events such as drugs, abortion, sex, etc.

"Aventura sin duda alguna es la nueva generacion de la bachata y no es un secreto que este estilo ya ha superado el merengue y no cabe duda que podria superar la salsa."

Defenectly the best thing that had happened to Latin music in the last few years.A CD you can't miss!
