Biography

We Cry Out: The Worship Project

There’s evidence that everyone else feels otherwise—he has sold three million records, charted twenty-two No. 1 hits, GRAMMY-nominated and won several major Dove Awards—but Jeremy Camp is tired of himself. Not in any self-deprecating way, but in that positive spiritual sense to which we should all aspire. You can hear him working this out ... Read more in Amazon's Jeremy Camp Store

Editorial Reviews

Grammy-nominated and RIAA multi-Gold selling artist Jeremy Camp is set to release his seventh studio project, We Cry Out - The Worship Project. Once again Camp teamed up with award-winning producer Brown Bannister to create a heartfelt, worshipful project. Returning to his worship music roots, he co-wrote with other notable worship leaders Matt Maher, Reuben Morgan (Hillsong) and Brenton Brown. "It is an overwhelming joy to see how the Lord has been faithful even though I am undeserving of it," shared Camp thinking back on his career. "I just want to continue to seek Him in all that I do, and want to always remember that it's the Lord doing the work...not me!

4.0 out of 5 stars A Fantastic Heart For Jesus August 25, 2010
Format:Audio CD
Most people will already have their mind made up about Jeremy Camp' new album, We Cry Out: The Worship Project, before they ever hear it. For some, he's the epitome of what they love about CCM. He's a passionate, talented Christian who isn't afraid to sing about his faith. For others, he's the epitome of why they never turn on K-Love on their radio. He's cookie-cutter, manufactured music from the CCM machine.

I've criticized Camp in the past myself for a lack of creativity, and for straddling the line between CCM and worship. That problem disappears on this album, as Camp is completely in his element simply worshiping God through his music. Camp has said that he originally intended to launch as a worship artist, and if this album is any indication, he should spend more time as one. This style of music is definitely his sweet spot.

Now one look at the track list for this album will reveal that Camp, like seemingly every other worship artist, included a cover of Hillsong's "Mighty to Save." They're great songs, but I'll admit I rolled my eyes when I saw that, along with Brenton Brown's "Everlasting God" and Matt Redman's "You Never Let Go." But here's the thing: the whole album feels like Camp is just worshiping and letting us listen, and these feel like songs that have meant something to him, so it mostly works. I still wish he had gone with some newer stuff instead, but his versions feel very genuine and not included simply because the songs are popular.

The real strength of the album is simply Camp's obvious love for the Lord and faith in Jesus Christ. I love the fact that he explicitly mentions the name of Jesus on almost every song, and not in an Oh-look-I'm-singing-about-Jesus way.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing Worship CD December 21, 2010

This is a wonderful CD. Most of the songs are too long to be played on the radio, so I am so glad that I purchased the CD.

Format:Audio CD
I absolutely LOVE this project...it is fabulous! Very annointed and fun to sing to...it really puts me in a good, godly mood. I saw Jeremy in concert promoting this project in Bemidji, MN and he was so awesome...my hubby and I had such a great time and we fell in love with his new songs and listened to them all the way home and I have been listening to them every day since :) This is his BEST album yet, hands down.

5.0 out of 5 stars Right up there with Rich Mullins! September 2, 2010
Format:MP3 Music|Verified Purchase
Do you want to worship and praise God...in the car? in the shower? while washing dishes? You cannot help but do so while listening to this cd.

I love my worship cds. I have been blessed beyond belief by all the artists that have produced great material to draw my mind to God. The one artist that has held a special place has been Rich Mullins. That does not mean Michael W. Smith, Steven Curtis Chapman, and MercyMe are anything to dismiss, because they are not. Their music has been a huge encouragement to me. But, there has always been something about Rich Mullins material that just works my mind, heart, and soul every single time I hear it. I have not owned a cd by any other artist that has had quite the effect his material has had on me.

I have been a Jeremy Camp fan since 2003 after I heard his cd Stay. I have never been disappointed with his work, or grown bored with listening to it. Yet, even his Live, Unplugged cd did not capture the magic of Mullins. I gave up even thinking anyone would produce an album that would have the effect on me like Mullins. Well, praise be to God a cd has been released that has done just that -- We Cry Out: The Worship Project by Jeremy Camp.

In my opinion, We Cry Out: The Worship Project, is perfect. I cannot listen to it without worshiping God. Not only am I singing unto God, but the material leaves me thinking long after I'm done listening to the music (much like Mullins' work did for me). As with his other albums, he has different messages in the song choices (in other words, he is not singing about the same thing in every song).

Not Ashamed is a new one. I like it. It is a challenging reminder of our call in the Lord. We should never be ashamed of the gospel.

4.0 out of 5 stars solid record September 2, 2010
Format:Audio CD
I'm not a huge fan of most contemporary Christian music. Though I'm a christian, a minister and a musician, most CCM leaves me cold for its lack of originality and mediocre songwriting. Jeremy Camp's new record transcends those limitations and delivers solid perfomances, in spite of the the obvious covers of Mighty To Save, Everlasting God and You Never Let Go. Songs such as Jesus Saves, The Way We Cry Out, and Overcome invite the listener to worship and enter Camp's world.

The playing on the cd is stellar, and Camp is an exceptional vocalist. He isn't the most ground breaking artist, but he provides a solid performance with lots of music that can be transferred to a church worship experience. Highly recommencd

4.0 out of 5 stars More Great Work October 11, 2010
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
Jeremy Camp never fails to do high quality work that cuts to the chase in proclaiming the Gospel and our response to it. A little lighter than his previous studio album, it still sounds like classic Camp. From the covers to the originals, all the songs point to Jesus and the Lord that He is. If you've never heard Jeremy Camp before, here's a good place to start.
