5.0 out of 5 stars you will NOT regret this cd
We saw this band on television while in London, England summer 2008 and we thought they were really good so we bought the cd while waiting at Heathrow for the flight home... Boy, are we ever glad we did!! This is one of the best cds we have heard in long time. So many styles, such versatility and each done very successfully. There is a sound here that i think we'll be...

1.0 out of 5 stars This script needs a re-write.
It's always hard ripping into a band's debut single, the common courtesy being to see if they're maybe more than just one song. When it comes to novelty acts or reality stars or tacky dance garbage, then they deserve everything they get, but with a real band, well.. I don't want to hate them straight away.

But then, not every band is as immediately loathsome...

We saw this band on television while in London, England summer 2008 and we thought they were really good so we bought the cd while waiting at Heathrow for the flight home... Boy, are we ever glad we did!! This is one of the best cds we have heard in long time. So many styles, such versatility and each done very successfully. There is a sound here that i think we'll be hearing more of. They are R&B, hip-hop, soul, pop, rock, there is even one song ( Rusty Halo) that i am sure when Sting hears it he'll wish he'd written it himself... there is also a beautiful ballad at the end ( I'm Yours) which will most likely get loads of airplay once people notice it. We look forward to seeing this band when they come to this part of the world and we are sure they will soon. They have a winner combination of lyrics and styles that will set them head and shoulders above the crowd. Well done boys!! Keep em comin'!!
p.s. it doesn't hurt that they have great voices as well as writing talent!! Plus we found the videos really well-done...

Say what you will about the lyrics. This Cat has got a genuine voice you can take to the mint. Other singers wish they could sing like this guy.

Thanks and kudos to this seller for actually listing the song my son was searching for, or we may never have found it! Great CD, even though it contains only 4 songs.

1.0 out of 5 stars This script needs a re-write., May 7, 2008

It's always hard ripping into a band's debut single, the common courtesy being to see if they're maybe more than just one song. When it comes to novelty acts or reality stars or tacky dance garbage, then they deserve everything they get, but with a real band, well.. I don't want to hate them straight away.

But then, not every band is as immediately loathsome and punchable as The Script.

For those that haven't heard it, "We Cry" is another hand-wringing, bleeding heart MOR dirge that you can imagine your mother would like. But they're trying NOT to be seen as that, because they've obviously bought a copy of the Bumper Book Of Things That Rock Bands Do. Think Phil Collins dropping the F Bomb (see? They swear 'cos they're ROCK) and you get the basic idea of what this band are all about. Except here's the funny part;

You could listen to this song 100 times (a suitable alternative self-harming suggestion would be downing a pint of bleach). You could watch endless repeats of the video, of the singer walking through some grim looking American slum (while looking like he's auditioning for America's Next Top Non-Threatening Bland Model), and singing in that stupid, affected "street" accent that suggests he's 100% American made.

Except - whoops - they're from DUBLIN.

So what does that mean, exactly? Well, one, they obviously have no personality of their own, no sound of their own, no voice of their own, and have chosen to steal bits from every successful stadium act in America - perfect for those people who don't actually like, y'know, music.

No-one's saying that, just because they're from Dublin, they have to start sounding like extras from The Commitments, but hells bells - have a bit of IDENTITY. This slop could have came from any band at any time in any part of the world. Joyless, charmless and oddly emotionless.

In short - "We Cry" is just another inoffensive, radio friendly suckfest, yet more glossy, expensive, girl friendly guitar boredom dressed up as a rock song. Think OneRepublic. Think The Feeling. Think any band that makes Bon Jovi look like Slipknot. There are hundreds of them.

And ask yourselves this; do we really need another one?
