Bad luck may have hindered both bands during their careers, but, despite that, near-legendary status has been heaped on the small body of recorded work Radio Birdman left behind. Similarly, Distemper, The New Christs' debut album is widely hailed as one of the best Australian rock albums. Radio Birdman recently reformed for a series of sold-out live shows in Australia and is rumored to have both U.S. and European tour dates in the works for 2003.
Perhaps 'We Got This! will finally and deservedly see The New Christs reap similar attention. Younger's principal live and recording vehicle, The New Christs, has seen some of Australia's best 'underground' musicians pass through its ranks. This includes members of The Hoodoo Gurus, The Celibate Rifles, The Lime Spiders, Died Pretty, The Screaming Tribesmen, The Someloves, The Saints and The Eastern Dark. Younger also fronted New Race, a short-lived supergroup featuring ex-Birdman bassist Warwick Gilbert, ex-Stooges guitarist Ron Asheton and ex-MC5 drummer Dennis Thompson.
As purveyors of intense, high-powered, melodic rock 'n' roll, The New Christs have always been hard to beat and, if We Got This! is to be the band's swan song, then they're undoubtedly quitting while they're ahead. Whatever the outcome, it is certain that there will be more to come from Rob Younger.

Victor is back with Wino creating a masterpiece of DOOM.,
By Quinten Mandryk (Edmonton, Alberta Canada) - See all my reviews
This review is from: We Got This! (Audio CD)
For those of you familiar with the underground doom-metal scene, Place of Skulls should be as familiar to you as Pentagram, My Dying Bride, The obsessed, Sait Vitus, ect. If not, then hopefully this review will lead you to those bands and more if you decide to pick up this melancholic masterpiece.Victor (ex-Pentagram) continues his (our) love for that classic Sabbath sound and puts forth on this disk enough dark, doom inspired riffs to fill a morgue. But it all comes from the soul and its so easy to recognize that his feelings are stamped all over the music and lyrics. Wino (ex spirit caravan, obsessed, Sait Vitus) helps out with guitar and vocals on a few of the songs, which only adds and improves upon Place of Skulls last release which was as nowhere as dark and moody. I could rant and rave about this powerful release which bleeds emotion, pain, and inner conflict but does so without loosing your attention or falling into a phychadelic drone, but I'll just say that if you have any love for melodic, sabbath inspired songs that reach into the soul and the truth then this is the CD for you. A much stronger CD than their previous effort that shines through from beginning to end.
