A Middle of the Road Album for the Dirtbombs,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: We Have You Surrounded (Audio CD)
Let me start by saying I really dig the Dirtbombs. I'm not saying they're the best or even most rememberable rock and roll band in the world, but they are definetly a solid group. Their sound is all it's own though. They are like Motown meets dirty Detroit rock. Their lead singer, Mick Collins, can howl like madman which fits really nicly into the dirty garage band backing. I just feel that this album is not their strongest effort. It may be that I've grown up since I first heard the Dirtbombs but I just felt that this album was middle of the road for the Dirtbombs. If you have their firs three albums and compilation album than I would buy this one and give it a listen but if this is your introduction start with one of their earlier albums (I suggest Ultraglide in Black).

This isn't the Dirtbombs' best (try "Dangerous Magical Noise") but even so, it's still a pretty good album that would have you coming back for more.

Nothing beats their double album or them live but this is definatly a raw hard rock album that I have come to expect from the Dirtbombs. Mick has found a way to be hard core with some fantastic riffs and heavy bass lines while staying jovial and light hearted with his lyrics. An abosolute next step for possibly one of the best Detroit bands ever. K.I.S.S doesn't hold a candle to these guys.
