5.0 out of 5 stars Outstanding and original. Amazing debut album all should own
The Crocketts have a sound like nothing you have ever heard before. Tracks such as 'Loved ya once' and 'Flower Girl' demonstrate the fantastic screaming abilities of this band. The songs can change from a calm melodic style to kick into a frenzy of screaming and heavier guitar riffs. Frontman Davey Crockett mixes an acoustic guitar and distortion to give The Crocketts...

Frontman Davey Crockett mixes an acoustic guitar and distortion to give The Crocketts that 'sound' that makes their style undescribable. The stand-out track on the album has to be 'Will you still care' which starts quite, light and calm until the chorus kicks in with Davey shouting out 'I don't f**king think so'. I truly can't express how good this album is, it should be made illegal not to own this album. Those who don't like this band clearly have no idea of what good music is!

5.0 out of 5 stars They may be skinny and wirey, BUT..., November 3, 1999

with their eclectic mix of styles and tastes, the Crocketts are a welcome breath of fresh air in the stagnation of today's music world. A renowned live act who have already toured with the likes of the Stereophonics, Shane McGowan, and the Levellers, this energetic foursome from Aberystwyth have already built up a solid grass roots following of loyal fans on their travels. This debut album does not quite capture the essence of the live act, but it contains an array of excellent songs and is well worth buying. Can't wait for the new album!

5.0 out of 5 stars In your face!, October 28, 1999

There's no mistaking the energetic rawness of Davey's vocals...this is a guy who really gets into his music; perhaps a fact that's not best illustrated via a studio recording. The Crocketts are a band who thrive in an "on stage" element as the thrashing and jumping bit simply adds to the whole experience. Kerrang isn't the only magazine that's offered rave reviews...Melody Maker has often sung their praises and has even made some of their work singles of the week.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best album of the decade., October 27, 1999

The startlingly original debut album from the best new band to come out of Britain for years. Veers from very shouty to breathtakingly romantic.

buy this album. Make the Crocketts into the stars they deserve to be.

These are sad days for British music, if this band ever becomes popular, I may leave the country.

Liked strangely by people who read Kerrang? (I did not know they could read?)

1.0 out of 5 stars I am glad others finally share my long held view, September 30, 1999
This review is from: We May Be Skinny & Wirey (Audio CD)
I have seen these shag sacks many times and in many clubs in London, they are the most pathetic effort of a band I have ever witnessed, only really liked by people who have no time to listen to music, and get there judgement in musical taste from the NME.

1.0 out of 5 stars I wouldn't bother if I was you!, September 24, 1999

You know how sometimes you buy an album and it takes you months of listening to it until you really start to love it and it becomes part of your daily life? This isn't one of those albums. The Crocketts wear their influences like a noose, which hopefully means that they will all be hanged upon the gallows of musical averageness...or just split up and fade even further into musical obscurity, I'm not fussy which option happens.
