I'm very dissatisfied. It does not work properly. I've seen them work before so I was very excited to get my own. It will not lock the eyelets in place. They do not close. It makes the hole just fine but doesn't work otherwise. I did not keep the packaging or the order sheet so don't have any way of returning it.

Before I bought this product, I tried setting eyelets with a HomePro 2 Hand Eyelet Tool. However the eyelet setter kept sliding back into its base, which made the tool unusable. I next tried a hammer and punch, after first punching a hole in the card stock. This technique worked, although the eyelets tended to deform into peculiar shapes, and I whacked my thumb with the hammer a couple of times. The Crop-A-Dile II Big Bite Punch (CAD II BBP)is my third attempt to set eyelets, and it performs better than the first two methods.

However, the CAD II BBP is by no means perfect. The top and bottom cubes that rotate so you can punch the correct size of eyelet have a bit of wiggle room, so that the top and bottom points don't come precisely together. The tool can still set eyelets, but one side of the eyelet gets a bit more squashed down than the other side.

My favorite feature, and the reason I bought the CAD II BBP is its long reach. If I choose to, I can set eyelets in the middle of my greeting cards instead of having to limit myself to the edges of the cards. The HomePro 2 Hand Eyelet Tool (while it was still working) could only set eyelets at the edges of cards.

solid, durable machine.

great for punching.

okay for snaps, grommets, etc. tends to smash eyelets when setting. 85(

also, the feet tend to slide off. may want to glue.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great & useful tool, December 26, 2011
This review is from: We R Memory Keepers Crop-A-Dile II Big Bite Punch (Kitchen)
I already own the smaller Crop-A-Dile tool, and I love it, so this was the logical next step for me. I am so glad I have this!

It can install grommets/rivets/eyelets (i will be trying it with snaps as well), and it punches holes VERY well. This tool has two sizes of hole punch, and the punches are specially shaped to be extra sharp - no more of those terrible half-holes. It says it can even punch through tin, which I haven't tried yet, but I'm certainly intrigued!

The base has a little bit of a grip, so it won't slide off the table during use, and the handle has a bit of grip too for your hands. It's clearly a very well manufactured tool, and I expect it to last a long time. Sometimes you just need a reliable tool, and this is the one.

4.0 out of 5 stars good, but not for everything, April 25, 2010
This review is from: We R Memory Keepers Crop-A-Dile II Big Bite Punch (Kitchen)
We got one of these when Wal-Mart suddenly decided to get rid of a bunch of them.

This is fabulous for making 1/8 and 3/16 holes, and it's easy to see where the holes are going to be. It sets 3/16 dritz grommets beautifully and without much hassle (They have to be smoothed out with the hammer method, though.

On the other hand: This is apparently not for thin paper or fabric. Maybe putting something sturdier underneath helps. It outright Smashed my 1/8 Making Memories eyelets. In addition, the insert was in French, and I had to go online to see the instructions in English.

I'm giving this 4 stars because I'm still going to have to get an eyelet setter for the 1/8 size. Otherwise, I love it.

Seller excelled, and delivered item as promised, in good/new condition.

I suspect those who say the Crop-a-Dile Big Bite doesn't work rams the handle home. Now, this product works well, but you have to play with it a little. If you slam the handle home, or aren't mindful of where you set the fastener, it'll distort/wreck/disfigure the fastener you're working with; easy does it.

I took a star off only because the main instructions come in French, with tiny instructions along the lower lining that don't really help much - but that's the manufacturer's issue, not the seller's.

If you want a Crop-a-Dile Big Bite, I strongly suggest going to YouTube and watching some of the good tutorials so that you understand how it works, and, more importantly, understand how the settings work. That's what I did, and after doing that, it was a piece of cake.

ARE YOU SERIOUS????
i have been pounding eyelets, grommits and punching holes with professional leather tools and punches for years. i stumbled on this tool by accident and bought it out of sheer exhaustion after seeing an advertisement where it punched through a cd. its absolutely amazing. seriously.. it punches holes in shoe weight leather like butter (i was using a drill) and sets my eyelets perfectly. i havent tried snaps yet but i just purchased a second hand held one and threw a couple of hundred dollars worth of tools in the junk drawer. it punches 1/8 and 3/16 holes, sets all sizes grommits eyelets and snaps and the expensive square eyelet setting die ive been drooling over and hoping to purchase is history. i am flabberghasted. AAAAAAA++++++

Crop-A-Dile II Big Bite works well, but it is a little hard to push for eyelets when you are doing a ton of them in one sitting. My recommendation if using it for big piles of invitations is to do it in chunks and in multiple days so your hand/arm doesn't get sore.

Great product though... it delivers what it promises.

5.0 out of 5 stars Crop-A-Dile II Big Bite does what it claims!, June 22, 2010

This product does everything it advertises and is so easy to use! With its up to 6-inch reach, you can punch a hole and set an eyelet any where on a 12x12 sheet of scrapbook paper or cardstock with such ease and precision. Crop-a-dile II also sets gromets and snaps. This handy tool makes 1/8 or 3/16 inch holes which can be use for placing brads. Furthermore, all the adjustable parts remain permanently attached to the tool; there are no separate parts to misplace. Although a bit pricey, the simplicity and success you'll experience at the first time you use it will make you very glad that you made the purchase!

This is a great product that works well. I used it to punch holes in the lids of Altoid containers. It works well on the lid but due to the depth of the bottom portion of the tin, the tin can't fit inside the opening of the Crop-A-Dile Big Bite. It works well on paper punching, too. I am pleased with this purchase and the pride is fair.
