Great record by a great band,

This review is from: We Must Burn (Audio CD)
This disk has the deep, churning, furious boogie you've come to expect from Portland, Oregon's XL punk bad boys. The riffs are hard. The drumming tight. The lyrics angry, and almost uncomfortably insightful. Singer Jerry A is every bit the hood ornament of the PI mobile, careening through Portland's rain-soaked streets. Mondo & Pig Champion, as usual, burn the barn with their guitar work.
Poison Idea was a pivotal band during the Northwest's punk-to-grunge transition, and this CD is a pretty good slice of why. What's unique about 'We Must Burn' is the band's use of atmospheric music (created old school with guitar, bass & drums) added to the songs. It is different from the two-minutes-and-done punk ferocity of earlier albums, and the overall effect is quite dramatic. This is not only a great record, it's a cool snapshot of a legendary band doing something a little out of character, and ---as usual--- doing it better than anyone else at the time.
