I ordered this book for my 4-year-old son after reading an interview with Sheila Hetl and both he and I have fallen in love with it. The text is just the right mix of philosophy and whimsy and the illustrations are gorgeous. I'm sure we'll be reading this one over and over in the years to come.

Given as a gift when my son was 2, he began to fully embrace it at age 3. We both love it, and read it often. It gently answers the big "why" questions, and embraces our differences. The artwork is stunning (and the cover is a poster!). I'd happily curl up and read this by myself or with my children. (As an aside, my partner read it, initially stating "I don't get it," but a few reads in, she enjoys it as well.)
