This is the leading single from Aaliyahs third self titled album. Following the success of the massive smash Try Again from the Romeo Must Die soundtrack, Aaliyah is changing in direction with this new release. Its nothing like her previous work and its nothing like anything thats out in the market at the moment. Its surprisingly different and its messy beats are almost as annoying as it is interesting because its so catchy. This single release is backed up by a non album track is which is worth checking out and a track that was also featured on the Romeo Must Die soundtrack. And as a bonus, an enhanced component containing the video is also thrown in making this a nice little package.

My favorite thing about this import is the video, and it has the full screen option. I give it four stars because I was disappointed that they didn't include an instrumental version, but all in all, it's a good enhanced CD.

Aaliyah amped up her well known mystique with a dash of dark sensuality with We Need A Resolution, the first single off her self-titled album. With a hypnotic Middle Eastern backdrop courtesy of producer Timbaland, Babygirl asks her man to talk out their issues so their relationship can go smoother. "Its official/You got issues/I got issues/But I know I miss you!" she cries and then wonders "Am I supposed to change?/Are you supposed to change?/Who should be heard?/Will we remain?" Timbaland plays the comical role of the dismissive boyfriend who's "tired of arguin'" and shuts her down instead of working things out.

The video introduced a more adult, slightly gothic Aaliyah with blood red lips, dark eyes, and darker clothes levitating over a glass bed with headphones on, performing a dance routine with all male dancers, and writhing around in a muddy pit with a snake around her neck (most likely where Britney Spears got the inspiration for her 2001 MTV Video Music Awards performance from). There was nothing else like this on the radio in the spring of 2001 and there's nothing like it today. Classic Aaliyah. Always several steps ahead.

This is the first single off of Aaliyah's latest(and tragically last)album.It has a different but cool beat.RIP Aaliyah!

If you want diversity, superior production, excellent sound with Timbaland, and an artist that is like no other then look no further. This CD single from the UK has an array of songs ranging from the Romeo Must Die Soundtrack, a previously unreleased track, and the exotic title track with Timbaland.

"We Need A Resolution Feat. Timbaland [Album Version] [4:02]" has the exotic Middle Eastern hints, claps, and happy vibes all throughout despite the themes of 2 lovers who have conflicts but can't come up with a solution. "...It was 4 in the morning when you got back in the bed... we need a resolution we have confusion... who should be hurting? Am I suppose to change?.." This has Timbaland's effect all over with much drums, rhythmic beats and sensational raps and singing. The chemistry between Aaliyah and Timbaland is very apparent in the song's aura and vibe as it has much energy that brings uplifting sensations despite its themes.

"Messed Up" [previously unreleased] [3:33] has a distinct never heard of sound of drums, and instruments that go a certain way depending on the tones of the song and Aaliyah's vocals. It's dramatic melodies full of messages that can have an array of meanings depending how you want it. Aaliyah is singing on how that special someone really messed up. This song is found on the album Ultimate Aaliyah as it was later put on a triple and double CD package. "...Take me for granted and expect me to stay right here, there is where you messed up...." The elevations and chirps of the sounds and vocals take you on the journey of what the song is portraying--a girl upset with her lover's bad boy behavior.

"Are You Feelin' Me?" [From Romeo Must Die Soundtrack] [3:09] has extraordinary crystal vocals by Aaliyah with once again the drums, clap type sounds and bass. This has a much Timbaland vibe throughout like the first--it's top notch R&B with pizzazz, exotic overtones, and sensuality. In breaks, Timbaland speaks saying, "Are you feeling the show?... Oh... Who is the best?... Who can it be?..." His deep vocals with Aaliyah's soft vocals blend beautifully.

One of my favorite videos, "We Need A Resolution" [Video] is on the enhanced portion. It has Aaliyah and Timbaland on a back and forth approach discussing through the song singing how they have problems and need a resolution. In between clips there is Aaliyah covered with snakes wrapped around her neck, body, and all over to create a very exotic sensual vibe. It's masterful in the sense the Middle Eastern hints along Timbaland's drums and influence along the visuals create more drama, edge, and a more mature Aaliyah. Timbaland and Aaliyah show on video that they had a very strong connection and close friendship definitely magical as the viewing is anything but ordinary!

The kick drum is deep for a reason - because it hurts. Rhythmic breaths and vocal ticks like guilty onlookers watching two people break into little bits. The accordion, always the most unsettling and strangely alluring of instruments, spirals upwards into histrionic territory, and later some sound is spun backwards, looking for a state, sometime previous to the song, when things were alright, when we could talk, when we could touch. Aaliyah's vocals run into each other in a state of near-panicked bewilderment, as she pushes herself too high, unable to apologise because it's not just her fault, while Tim's drawl tells us how much he's had of this - "I'm tired of arguing, girl" - which is precisely enough to make him start to walk away. And always questions. "Where were you last night?" "Where'd you go instead?" "What was in your head?" "Am I supposed to change? Are you supposed to change?" "We have so much confusion..." This song is simply brilliant, one of the best singles of the new millennium. Not only is the beat superbly avant garde, but the lyrics are astonishing.

This song has to be one of her best to date. The infectiously dark and eerie vibe this song projects is enough to keep anyone hooked and wanting more. Her album 'Aaliyah' showed her maturity and growth as a young female artist who was tragically cut in the midst of her prime. Including a previously unreleased track "Messed Up" alongside "Are You Feelin' Me?" from the RMD Soundtrack, AND the beautifully sexy video to "We Need A Resolution" it certainly is the total package.Like Aaliyah was and still is to many fans all across the world.

This is not my favorite song but it's still a good one.It has a strange beat,but it's fun to listen to.It features Timbaland rapping,but it's still good.
