We had the incredible good fortune to have RED MEAT play at our wedding in Occidental CA, and afterwards Owen Bly handed me the bands' brand-new and unreleased CD. We have played it nonstop ever since, even forcing French bartenders to play it on our honeymoon (they all loved it!) This is the best release by the band to date. It represents a perfection of their craft, which is pure, honest and unpretentious country music that can at once evoke laughter and tears. Song topics include: spending too much money on beer, central valley beauty queens, heartaches, hangovers and high-maintenance babes. Fun for the whole family!

I am lucky enough to live in Northern California and I am able to see Red Meat play regularly. It is odd that this part of the country can support bands which are more country than the bands currently promoted out of Nashville.

Red meat keeps putting out great country music inspired by the country legends of the past but written for modern times.

As usual, the tracks feature the band's diverse musical talents from Jill's melodic voice on Thriftstore Cowgirl and I'm Not the Girl for You to Michael's guitar on Moonrock with Smelly and Scott Young in fine form harmonzing on numerous tracks. Les James steady presence on drums is a testament to his studio skills. Scott's songwriting and vocal skills are featured in Sunday and Smelly Kelly shines in High Maintenance Baby, which follows the Red Meat tradition of humor and light hearted fun shown in previous tracks like 12 Speed Oscillating Fan and Lolita.

The album concludes with a gospel classic I'm Gonna Leave Here Shoutin', a fitting end to this fine album.

Red Meat tours around the world. If you ever get a chance to catch this band live you won't be disappointed. Yee haw!
