Don't be fooled, February 3, 2006
This review is from: We the People (Audio CD)
Don't be fooled by the font on the cover, the shadowy artwork and the parental advisory -- this is one of the most important records of the year and should be listened to by any fan of rock, pop, hip-hop, rap or world music.
I heard the first single, "Someday," on Sacramento radio months ago and liked it, but thought that was probably the best Flipsyde could come up with. I was dead wrong. There are at least a half-dozen or more tracks here that are as strong or stronger.
I love Flipsyde's socio-political leanings. In a time when rap and hip-hop seem more about the bling and little about global interaction or social debate, Flipsyde breaks the mold in songs like "U.S. History" and "Happy Birthday." And there is some pretty fine musicianship here, too, and the production is incredible.
Like a great wine that opens up with each sip, this record shares something new with each listen. For good or bad, I even hear elements of U2 and N'sync.
The CD has been in my car deck for the past two weeks, and I just can't seem to take it out. Buy it. Every song is worth at least 99 cents.

An extremely pleasant surprise, May 4, 2006
This review is from: We the People (Audio CD)
I bought this CD off the shelf without knowing a thing about the band. It was labeled as Rock-Alternative which is my typical genre, so I figured I'd give it a go. What I heard when I popped the CD in was not at all what I expected.
What I heard was one of the most interesting and captivating fusions I've heard in a long time. It's hard to pinpoint all of the influences to be heard on this CD, but one thing is for sure -- it KICKS.
The lyrics are intelligent and masterfully delivered, the guitar work is outstanding, and every song is catchy and infectious. It runs the spectrum from hardcore, politically charged rap to uplifting and thought-provoking songs about family, personal accountability, and the state of the world we live in today. In contrast to a lot of music today, this entire CD has a purpose and will definitely draw you in with its many important messages.
Highly recommended for people who like rap, rock, or just generally great music that transcends genre.

Absolutely amazing!, May 15, 2006
When I went to go see the Black Eyed Peas concert, Flipsyde opened up for them. I didn't know what to expect, but it was beyond any expectations I could have had. It is a mix of rap, rock, & latin flavors. Every single song on this album is amazing. Usually on CD's there are a few songs that just aren't as good as others. That is not the case for We the People. All songs are fantastic, but my favorites are "Someday", "Flipsyde", "Trumpets", & "Happy Birthday". Again, I have been so happy with this purchase, it is the best CD I have ever bought.
