my chime in,

I just wanted to add, that, even with being a Camouflage completist, this compilation is useful to the average fan, in that, it contains many SINGLE mixes of the songs, different to the album versions. And the packaging and artwork is quite nice too. Woulda been nice to have a new track featured on here, but, all the important songs are here. I think every Camouflage fan has their favorites though, so if your fave is missing, dont feel alone.

Wonderful!,

A wonderful compilation of this group's work. Listening to this CD is a lot like listening to a greatest hits package by Depeche Mode. Any fan of Depeche Mode can obviously hear the same style of music in Camouflage. All of the band's greatest songs are here though it is not the same as listening to the original albums in which are far better. Discard the track Jealousy in which Camouflage sems to have made the same mistake as Depeche Mode in Songs of Faith and Devotion by utilizing guitars. It didn't work for Depeche Mode, it's not going to work for Camouflage. The other track to stay away from is Waiting. That track is a big [loss] and does not belong on this compilation of best work by Camouflage. Other than that, this CD is pleasing to the ear.

Great, But Rather Incomplete,

Here is a collection of most of Camouflage's best tracks, but with a couple of obvious ommisions. Where are "That Smiling Face" and "Anyone"? Also, a few of the tracks here hardly seem to qualify as their best("A Picture of Life", "Strangers Thoughts", "I Once Had A Dream"). The remix of "Love Is A Shield", however, is quite good.

GR8 ALBUM,

This is one of the best band of the 80's. I really like their works such as The Great Commandment, Love is a Shield, Neighbours, Strangers Thoughts among others. I used to mix their songs with Red Flags' Russian Radio & If I Ever coz they have the same beat. I've been looking for this band for so long & thank God Amazon.com has it. This album is going in to my collection.

I love camouflage, for the last 10 years, they been one of the best synth-pop creators every album they put out is a different, sometimes rough(meanwhile),and sometimes sub-real(voices & images)but there always full of stories & fantasy,i dont't have a favorite album, i love everyone of them in different ways, but i do agree with kevhamilton this album needs"this smiling face" (the single version only available in the 12'inch vinyl),and also more!more!..remixes,....william orbit's mix is deliciously, huntingly a masterpiece,..i gess we will "waiting,waiting,waiting,waiting"...for the remix album .... love you guys...........

Camouflage Fans need it,

When did you last hear this band? What song do you remember? The Great Commandment? Love is a Shield? Well, Camouflage is back with their Best of, and you probably need to own it. Some of their newer stuff you may not have heard such as the superb but moody 'Crime'. Also, the remix by William Orbit of 'Love is a Shield' is worth the price of the cd alone. This cd would have been worth 5 stars however, if it had included an amazing song from their first album 'That Smiling Face' and some more remixes would have been nice as well.

Buy the originals!,

Camouflage are too good a group to buy a Greatest Hits album from. Most of the tracks are strong: stylistically, Camouflage are similar to Depeche Mode. All the more reason to buy the original albums and appreciate the holistic context in which they were first written. Why have one's listening spoiled by a record company's decisions? |
