5.0 out of 5 stars This is a great album!
You know how I tell if an album is great or just good? If every single song is great, then the album's great. If not, it's just good. This album is great. 3.0 out of 5 stars Rocks!
It's hard to review this without using profane adjectives and adverbs to describe it. In a good way. Great party album. It sounds at times like Thin Lizzy with a little AC/DC thrown in. You will probably be laughing at the ridiculous amount of swagger here, all the while shamelessly banging your head. I can't say anymore or they won't print my review. Get it.

5.0 out of 5 stars These guys are the real deal., August 13, 2005

"We Sweat Blood" simply makes your jaw drop. It's that good. The production quality is crisp and tight, yet doesn't interfere with the rawness of Danko Jones' sound. And what a sound. Everyone's going to compare them with other bands to try to describe them. The most obvious is AC/DC mostly because of the sheer bare-bones power-chord energy mixed with a blues sensiblity. Just add a heart-thumping fuzzy bass underneath it all. Your subwoofer's going to love this one. Also, I found myself cracking up at some of the lyrics. Good stuff. From track to track all the way through to the end, you quickly come to the realization that you just picked up one of the best CD's you've heard in a long time.

5.0 out of 5 stars The new Beasts of Hard driven Rock'n'Roll, April 25, 2006
This review is from: We Sweat Blood (Audio CD)
They have been compared to AC'DC and that is a fair comparison. But on some songs they sound alot like Jett's hard rock'n songs. They are a must buy if you are looking for straight foward high volatage rock and roll. I can't wait till these guys blow up.

4.0 out of 5 stars Canandian hard rockers same formula, February 28, 2011

Every song is catchy as hell and rocks 3 chord style. Danko sings and plays guitar and he really does sweat blood. He wants to sleep when he dies.....this cd is good, not quite as rocking as next release "Sleep is the Enemy."
Wish these guys would come down south for some moshing.

5.0 out of 5 stars Pure Rock'n'Roll, August 11, 2009

You won't find an album more Rock'n'Roll than this one. Great riffs, funny lyrics, simple but good drums and basslines just how I like it.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not bad, but highly over rated., May 31, 2009

I was introduced to this band by my drummer friend from Detroit. He played me a song from this CD (track one) and I thought it rocked, so I bought the CD. The opening track is by far the best song on this album, leaving the others well in the dust. Many of the songs are just pretty boring with an attempt at singing that really isnt that good. None have stuck in my head (except Track 1) since I have listened to the CD well over 10 times. I cant believe that there is a quote on this CD that says "possibly the best band in the world"....that is a complete joke and whoever wrote that has some major aural problems. Anyway, this is a good CD, but it hardly lives up to the hype. If only all the songs (or even half) had the power of the opening track; then I would be hooked!

4.0 out of 5 stars A modern day version of Kiss, April 12, 2005
This review is from: We Sweat Blood (Audio CD)
The Good
Effective power chords and jarring guitar licks control the opening track "Forgot My Name". It's about spotting a girl on the street that's so hot, you forget your own name. "Lovercall" is dominated by a piercing bass line that's followed by some driving riffs. Jones uses a spoken-word delivery, but pulls out the melody on the catchy chorus. "Dance" is comprised of a repetitive lick in the verse sections and body-jerking rhythms that kick in by the chorus.

Danko Jones' anthem track must be "I Love Living in the City". It has a chant along hook and it's stacked with memorable hard rock riffs. "Wait a Minute" has a frantic vocal delivery and a fast-paced drum attack. "Strut" uses simple power chords and guitar licks to pump up this female anthem of sorts. It could easily become a runway model or stripper theme song. Danko opens the gates of hell on "The Cross". His angered vocals more than perpetuate his pain.

The Bad
Nothing notable

The Verdict
Danko Jones come off as a modern day version of Kiss on We Sweat Blood (without the make-up & theatrics of course); lots of anthems, party tracks, and songs about the appreciation of the fairer sex.

5.0 out of 5 stars finally something good from canada.., May 3, 2004
This review is from: We Sweat Blood (Audio CD)
wow, i'm really surprised that this album is not even released yet in the us, cause i have it already since november or so, and i bought in germany, furthermore, they're from canada..whatever
the cd is, however, an awesome mix of hard rock and great rock'n'roll, you wanna play air-guitar at every song and dance through the night.
there's like no weakness on thie cd, all songs are very catchy and that makes this album (almost) great..maybe, the only bad thing is, that almost all songs sound similar to another song
my favorite songs are "i want you", "wait a minute", "home to hell" und the last song 'we sweat blood" all in all, this is probably the best rock'nroll band from canada...ever...
(i'd give it actually just 4 1/2 stars, but i'm rounding up, so it's 5)
