Though the cover makes her look like Phoebe from Friends, her vocals definitely communicate "chick rock" in a more authentic way. It's always refreshing for me to listen to a voice like this once in a while, and I missed it at first coming from secular music. This one took me back to my days growing up in school - I wish my parents had taught me what is contained in this song. The song itself is clever, reminding me that not everybody who seems like they have it together, really does. Other people have as many problems as we do, sometimes more. I would have been spared alot of frustration in school from feeling so different from others, or feeling like I couldn't connect to them. Instead of being angry, I may have tried harder to reach out, and may have had a happier time. So, if you're young or have teenagers in this school - this song is a must listen! Encourage your kids to "Come together" with their peers - not in some "new age" Beatles way for world peace, but to help share with them that life has rough spots and we all need a little help... |
